Ch3: Getting to know the area

John looks around the cabin of Thea's home. The room feels cozy as he first came inside. The fireplace warming up the insides, the warmth of the seat John is seating. He never thought he be in a type of world like this.

His mind did wonder, where did that hooded figure sent him? What type of Dungeon and Dragons type of world is he in? He doesn't know about anything about DnD, at least he knows somewhat about Elfs, Dwarfs, but not that kind of DnD stuff about them. But what John knows is that they are just fairy tales. But it's also strange on how he is in a fairy tale world. Or at least the word he is looking for, is a fantasy world. He takes a breath and puts his hand on his head. This is a lot to process for him. For now, all he can do is just figure it all out later and focus on the present.

He hears a door being open from behind John. He turns and see Thea coming in the room, with a more appropriate clothing than the clothing she wore just minutes ago.

Thea sits at the same spot that she sat before and looked at John. "So, how are you feeling?" She asks.

"Feeling?" John asks in confusion.

"Of here, of my home." Thea says.

"Oh it's...cozy." John replies.

"It is. When it comes to be a Ranger, we also hunt to survive. Even if we have to use the fur of animals to keep us warm or for other folks." She speaks.

"Tell me more about this place. I mean the area of course." John asks.

"Well, you are in the area of "The Fertile Forest", the home of the southern realm. It's a beautiful place to camp or to stay if you choose to live here. And it's peaceful out here." She says.

"Besides the three bandits I took care of earlier." John says.

"Right...you will deal with bandits in some parts of places in this world. Because there's a town nearby which attracts attention, and other folks would live there or stay there for the night or two." Thea says.

"And why is the area called The Fertile Forest?" John curiously asks, which Thea sighs.

"Well, to say that it's true, it's a... mating area to be exact. There are high chances of any female animals can get pregnant, hence why this area around you is called the Fertile Forest" Thea says, John can tell from her look that it sounds like a weird name to call it.

"Would that also include...people as well that come across here?" John asks, shaking the back of his head on that question.

"Well...maybe. Who knows. It is possible, but don't you get any ideas." Thea says with a narrowed look.

"Of course not. Just..curious is all." John says. It's strange to think that there are high chances of someone, or an animal to get pregnant around these areas. "So uh, tell me more about the town. The so-called Bromwich?" John asks.

"You really are a question type of fellow aren't you." Thea says with a narrowed look.

"Sorry, just trying to figure out and understand where I am at and what's out in this world, I'm at." John says, which Thea nods in understanding.

"Well, Bromwich was founded long before I was born. It was said that most adventurers would come here in order to get experiences with their classes or to travel to Klarland, our capitol city in the Southern Realm." Thea explains. "They mostly like almost other towns, do carnival competition games, you can either get coins or a prized processions, or who knows, a cool badass weapon, as well as enjoy the festivals. Either from its birthday, or other holidays in this world offers."

"Gotcha." John says. "So, I know you're a ranger. How did you become one?" He asks.

"It's not that I chose it, I wanted to be one. There are other classes that you can be. Like Fighters, Rouges, Paladins, Barbarians, Wizard, etc." Thea says. "But of course depending on if you're really good with a blade, or good with magic.

"Yep...I am definitely in a world of DnD..." John says in his own thoughts. "I see...and you as a Ranger, your proficiently good with a bow I take it. Given from your class you wanted to be." John says, which Thea nods her head.

"Indeed, not only we're good with bows and arrows, we're also proficiency with blades if an enemy or monster gets too close. We also have other skills depending on the environment we're in, and as well as with nature itself." Thea says. "Not to mention depending on the different races that want to be a ranger." She adds.

John listens and nods to her. "And how old are you? Given that you are an Elf of course." John asks.

"High-Elf actually. Thea corrects John. "I would say around...120 years." Thea says.

"So...basically you're..." John says as he thinks how old is Thea, which...seems complicated and confusing at the same time.

"I believe around in my mid 20s or late 20s if that makes sense. I know, it's confusing. Even for me as well." Thea says.

"Well, at least I ain't talking to an old hag that's for sure." John says, which then he sees Thea's eyebrows go narrow, and a pissed off tone on her face says otherwise.

"And what's that supposed to mean 'old hag'?!" Thea asks in a irritated tone as she stands up from the couch, her hands on her hips.

"Well uh...I didn't mean to say it like that. It just that with your age you would be the...old type. But I didn't mean to say it to offend you. So...my bad...and I'm sorry." John apologizes. "Jeez, for some reason this woman can be...scary sometimes..." John thinks to himself, as he for some reason he is starting to sweat...in fear?

Thea then sighs, and sits back down onto the couch. "Don't say words like that again. I hate it when people call me that." Thea explains.

"Noted." John says, feeling a bit calmed from Thea, despite already meeting her just an hour or two ago. "I think that's all the questions I have to ask...but now with that out of the way...now what?" He asks.

"Well...despite of me already coming back from Bromwich, I think it's best for you to know the town." Thea says as she stands up from the couch. "I'll get my gear ready, once I'm ready, will depart." Thea says, as she then walks over to her room to get her stuff and gear ready, as John then takes a deep breath, and stands up from the opposite couch he was sitting.

"This is gonna be a loooong journey." John says to himself and shrugs. A long journey indeed...

To be continued...
