Carly knew that she was lucky.

Lucky to have so many friends and family that cared. Lucky to live a modest, but comfortable lifestyle in the big city. Lucky to be in walking distance to her dream job!

"Come on, Zo!" Carly knocked on the bathroom door. "I'll be quick! Seriously!"

"You know the rules, babe!" Zoey called back. "First come, first serve!"

Carly had woken up fifteen minutes later than usual. Not a huge blow to her schedule-- But it meant that her roommate had claimed the bathroom before she could. And Zoey always took FOREVER. Thankfully, Carly didn't really NEED to shower first thing in the morning. It was more habit than necessity...

So, she made herself presentable. Combed her wavy black hair, slipped on a nice dress, and soon enough, she was out the door.

Unbeknownst to her... Just five minutes later, the fire alarm in their apartment building would start blaring, soon followed by the scream of fire trucks! It was minor, thankfully. No damage, nobody hurt. But it did warrant a thorough inspection of the building. Everyone was evacuated...

Including Zoey, in the middle of her shower.
