"I know it's so typical for the cheerleader to have a crush on the quarterback, but my God, he was so damn hot," Carla whispered whilst still staring over at him. “He still is,” she added, sipping her drink.

"Girl, everybody in school had a crush on him, but that bitch Emma always had her hooks in him," Alexa said, pulling a face at the mention of Emma.

Emma Benson was the stereotypical all-American girl. Gorgeous, striking face, a natural blonde with big blue eyes to match. She was the most popular girl in high school and also a straight-A student who all the teachers loved. But as the girls remembered, she could be a real bitch, especially to any girls she deemed a threat or who got too close to Brian.

"Yeah, she never let him out of her sight," Carla added, both girls giggling.

"Well, I don't see her here now, so come on, let's go over to him," Alexa said, downing her remaining rum and coke, slamming the glass down on the bar.

"W-what, we can't just go over that's crazy," Carla stammered, feeling her cheeks burning up as panic set in.

"Come on, stop being a little bitch and let's go. I don't remember you being this shy back in high school. What happened to my old friend who knew how to get a guy's attention?" Alexa said, playfully poking Carla in the ribs.

"You make it sound like I was a slut, I think you're confusing me with yourself," Carla shot back, sticking her tongue out at her and laughing.

"Slut is such a misused word, I prefer to say that I’m friendly," Alexa said candidly. "But the Carla I remember definitely wasn't a prude and wouldn't hesitate to go over to a hot guy," she added.

"Well, things happen, people change, get married, get old, become boring. We can't stay young and free like we were," Carla said.

"Old?! Who are you calling old? We are only 28, so don't give me all that crap. Jeez, marriage really changed you," Alexa said, walking past Carla. "We will have to bring the old you back from the dead. Tonight will be good for you, I'll make sure of it," turning to look back at Carla. "Now, do I need to drag you over there or will you come willingly?" she asked with that smile that usually led to trouble.
