Chapter 9 by Mr Nice Guy Mr Nice Guy

What's next?

Break it!

"Shit shit shit shit shit!"

Frantically, Peter tried to access the wifi menu to disable, but every time he selected it the PDA would quickly return back to the task list view. Seeing words begin to appear on multiple lines, tasks being added from somewhere over the internet, tasks that to his view were certainly not things he would want to do, he tried powering down the device.

Again the screen flashed, again a short screeching noise.

Then a message appeared on the screen.

Feature disabled

Hitting the power toggle again gave him the same result. The device was stuck on. Peter was stuck with it. Maybe he could lose it, or throw it away, or break it. Yes, that was the ticket. All he had to do was break it and his troubles would be over. Sure, it would be too bad to lose a magical device seemingly set up to give him his heart's desires, but if it was being hijacked to make his life miserable, it wasn't worth it.

He dropped it on the floor and stomped on it. Not a scratch. He ran to his closet and grabbed his grandfather's old bowling ball. The sound of it falling onto the PDA was loud, but again it was undamaged.

"Are you alright in there?" Came his mother's voice, alerted by the din of his panic.

"Yeah," he quickly called back, "Just dropped something. Everything's alright!"

"Okay," She shouted from somewhere else in the house, "Don't waste too much time in there. I know you have a very busy day, so you'd better get moving! Let me know if you need any more help getting things done!"

Busy day? For a moment Peter didn't know what she was talking about. After all, he'd planned on just hanging around the house. Then he looked down at the PDA.

Oh.

Shit.

What task was first on the list?
