Brandon gets things started

Gavin dealt the cards around the table and everyone looked to see what they had gotten. Brandon revealed his card and announced, "Well, looks like I am the king." Beside him, Ashley flipped her own card over, revealing the joker. Gavin and Chloe followed, revealing the queen and jack respectively.

Heather turned to Chloe and asked, "Who are you going to protect?"

Chloe hesitated before answering. She really wanted to protect one of her friends. Gavin had immunity already from drawing the queen, which left Zack and Meagan. She glanced over at Brandon, and noticed the looks he was giving his girlfriend, looks that made it pretty clear he was planning to take advantage of Ashley having gotten the joker. That probably meant it didn't matter who she protected, but the expression on Ashley's face seemed more like one of challenge than acquiescence. That suggested that if Ashley found the result amusing, she might not cut in. In that case, she should probably protect Zack. With a silent apology to Meagan, she announced her decision. "Zack."

"Thanks, Chloe," Zack responded, flipping over his card to reveal the 9 of hearts.

Brandon, barely taking his eyes off his girlfriend besides him, then gave his command. "I order number 2 to kiss the king."

Taylor, watching the young couple, looked amused. "For what it matters, that would be me."

"Hmmm...," Ashley said, giving Brandon an evil grin. "I suppose I would prefer not watching my boyfriend kiss my sister's best friend, and so will use my power to switch with Taylor. You should count yourself lucky that you aren't suddenly finding yourself about to kiss Trent." With that said, she leaned in toward her boyfriend and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "You should also think about the wording of your commands." She winked at her boyfriend before leaning in once more to give him a proper kiss.

The round complete, Gavin gathered up the cards and shuffled them, preparing for the next round.
