Bob’s Boss and Coworker: Cassie Lewandowski and Kayla Parker

“Where the fuck is Bob?”

Cassie was simultaneously furious and relieved. Bob had volunteered for a double tonight so that she could go to dinner with her future in-laws. She had to go, but knew it was going to be miserable. And here she was, waiting for him to get back from a two hour long lunch break that had now become three hours.

“No idea, but he’s not answering his texts.”

That was a rarity. Bob always responded to Kayla’s texts immediately. Even when he should have been sound asleep. This flattered Kayla immensely. Sure, he was old enough to be… well actually he was older than her dad, but he was still kinda cute. If they hadn’t become such close friends she would have probably taken him to bed already.

“Looks like it’s just you and me then. Hope he’s ok.”

Cassie was more worried about Bob than she was about skipping dinner with Ray’s folks. When she’d been hired she had worried that the older cook would give her shit for being wet behind the ears, but he’d been her most ardent supporter on the staff and they’d developed a bond similar to that of siblings. More realistically the two of them parented the mostly early twenty late teen staff. She knew Bob was off his meds and not doing too well, so his conspicuous absence really scared her.

“I’m sure he just dozed off or something. You know he actually falls asleep in the shower?”

Kayla giggled at the thought and went into the back of the kitchen for an apron. What the hell was that noise?

The low buzzing drone slowly intensified as the two young women set about their respective tasks preparing for meal service, neither really noticing it until Kayla’s eyes suddenly rolled back in her head and she slumped to the floor.

Cassie had exactly enough time to say “What the fuck?” before also falling like a marionette with cut strings.

A twofer. And both of them cuties.

Heidi moved on to the next target.
