Big changes

After cuddling for a while, you and Alex finally agree to get out of bed. You both get cleaned up and dressed, something that takes longer than usual, because she seems to be taking great pleasure in teasing you with her new body. Finally you manage it, and the two of you make your way back out to the common room. You’re not surprised to find everyone still there, sharing pleasant conversations over lunch.

Immediately, all eyes are on you and Alex. You blush, and Alex giggles. “I think he still likes me, girls!”

General laughs from around the table as the two of you sit down. You chuckle, shaking your head. “I don’t think that was in doubt.”

Sarah giggles. “No kidding. Alex went from athletic sexy to curvy sexy!”

Melora nods. “I doubt any guy would complain about that body.”

Cassie winks at Alex. “Or many girls. Can I have the next turn?”

Alex grins. “You know you’re next, you silly chameleon!”

Cassie cheers, and everyone laughs again. Once they calm down, you nod. “So, naughtiness aside, we have plenty to do. Does anyone think that we should change our plans now that Alex is healthy?”

Before anyone can answer, the door opens. You see several bewildered guards outside watching as Samus enters the room. Obviously it’s been a day of dramatic entrances. The demigod still looks tired, but better than he had upon finishing the ritual.

“I may have a change in your plans. But first of all, let me have a look at Alex, if you don’t mind?”

Alex bounces to her feet, practically skipping over to Samus. He has a slight smile on his face as he looks her up and down. After a while, he nods.

“A solar elemental, interesting. And stable, good. It seems that your personality is in tact as well.”

Alex giggles. “All the fun, now with boobs!”

Samus chuckles. “So it would seem. Are you aware of the other changes in your state?”

Alex furrows her brow. “What does that mean?”

Samus looks around the table, seeing nothing but questioning looks. “I suppose ascended spirits aren’t well documented, it’s no surprise the details aren’t known.”

Kaeli speaks up. “I know some, but mostly powers and potential. The information out there is useful for identifying and combating, less so for personal use.”

Nadia nods. “And what I know amounts to rumors and hearsay, less than reliable.”

Samus looks back to Alex. “I’ll put this as simply as possible, then. Part of the process that makes an ascended spirit also changes them. Your body is no longer a construct of energy, it’s far closer to a natural person’s.”

You look between Alex and Samus. “So…what does that mean for her?”

Samus smiles. “Several things. First, she’ll age normally, unlike a spirit. And eventually pass on, like the rest of you. But what’s more immediately relevant to this group, I would imagine, is that she is capable of producing offspring naturally.”

Alex gasps. “Wait. You mean I could…if we…”

Samus nods. “Yes, your new body is capable of becoming pregnant in the normal fashion.”

Alex looks at you, and you see excitement in her dark eyes. A big smile spreads on her face. “This is…I never imagined…wow!”

You smile. “That is really big news, and probably something we should have known about before we had our little adventure this morning…”

The girls all giggle, and Cassie bounces in her seat. “If you knocked her up, I’m next!”

You stare at the excited chameleon girl and shake your head. “My dad warned me about this. I won’t refuse, but you do know we’re kind of busy at the moment, right?”

Cassie crosses her arms, faking a pout. “I said what I said!”

Melora laughs. “While I agree with Nicholas in that we have a lot going on…I wouldn’t mind being on that waiting list as well…”

You see Nadia and Sarah exchange a glance, and both of them nod. Meanwhile, Alex is smiling, rubbing her stomach thoughtfully. You have to chuckle when Lilith grumps at you in your head.

And now they’re getting baby crazy? What is it about you? Sometimes it sucks being stuck in here…

You shake your head. “Ok, this is something we can discuss later. Right now, we need to hear what Samus wants.”

You look at the demigod. “At least, it sounded like you wanted something, before you got everyone all wound up…”

Samus nods. “I do. I have a request for your next step. I would like to send you on a mission.”

You look at him curiously. “The way you say that is worrying.”

Samus sighs. “Because it’s another mission inside the capital.”

He looks into your eyes.
