Being a good listener

Skyler watched Zissu carefully while thinking things over. If what Gaia had said was true and his writing had described, even a little bit of this world, correctly. Well, as much as it sucked, he certainly wouldn't have enough money to buy anything of use from the Abyss Auction. With that being a major issue, he opted for simply listening to her request. "I said I would listen, so what is it you'd like to say?" Zissu rocked, back and forth, on the balls of her feet before turning to face him. She had a huge smile upon her lips. "Well, I have a huge favor to ask."

Zissu brought up both of her hands up close to her lips as if to pray. Her eyes closed as she began to speak. "I know this is a lot to ask for. So I am just going to ask for it. May I stay with you for a few days? Pretty please?" Skyler lifted a brow. He knew absurdities like this were normal in online stories, movies, and the like. He couldn't help, but glare at her. This sounded like a sick joke. Was Gaia having a laugh at his expense? If she were actually a goddess, she should know full well that he couldn't possibly entertain this request.

Even if this were real, Skyler knew he couldn't say yes. He didn't have an argument to sell this to his mother. Even if he discounted the fact that Zissu tried to eat him a little bit ago, there was another sad fact. The fact that he was a guest within his own home. He only earned his keep by helping his mother around the house, being the family's chauffeur, and did some of the cooking. He knew this wasn't enough to accommodate another too. He lowered his head slightly as he shook his head. "Sadly, that is something I cannot do. I don't really earn my keep around here. As such, I can't in good conscious ask my mother to allow you to stay too."

Zissu's eyes opened while lowering her hands. "You mean you aren't the man of the house?" Skyler shook his head. "I am simply a man within it. Last night, my father passed away. Sadly, he was also the main source of income. As such, our finances will be tight for months to come. Heck, I honestly don't know if I will be able to stay here much longer." He could feel his eyes welling up with tears. However, before any could fall, he turned to the side, making it easier to concentrate on holding them back. He could feel his heart sinking at the same time. "I have a lot to do around here to try and keep things afloat. Even if that means I need to leave this house."

Skyler took in a deep breath before looking to Zissu. "Sadly, I can't guarantee my own safety, let alone yours too." He smiled weakly before continuing to speak. "I can't in good conscious accept your request. It would only serve to risk your livelihood too." She watched him carefully while thinking. 'Interesting, he is a more sensitive man than I thought. I hope the Abyss doesn't eat him up.' Her score ticked up to 55 as she tilted her head slightly. "If that is your only concern then that isn't a problem. Money is something I can provide. I am simply asking for a safe place to stay for a few days." She walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "In addition, I can teach you more about the Abyss. So, how about it?"

Skyler could feel Zissu's soft breasts, pressing against his ribs. He turned slightly to the side, feeling as if his cheeks were reddening. Luckily for him, that wasn't actually the case. "I, I would still need to talk about it with my mother. I should be able to think of something, but I don't even know how much you are offering." She smiled and giggled. She laid her head against his chest and nuzzled gently. "How's $150 per day?" He blinked several times. "That is quite a lot in my opinion." She smiled softly. "Mm, then I look forward to living with you, Skyler." As his hands lowered to move hers away from him, his quest turned itself in.

After Skyler read all of that, he turned his attention back to Zissu. "I will talk to her. Just wait here, okay?" She nodded before blinking. "Okay. Oh um, I should write down the Abyss Auction website down for you." She found a piece of paper and a pen upon his desk and started to write. "I look forward to your mother's answer." He nodded slightly before starting to walk out of his bedroom toward the living room. He began to wonder what he would say to his mother. Would she accept this unexpected guest? Or would she say now is a bad time?
