Chapter 32 by Twisted_Fellow Twisted_Fellow

Would Verona accept this unexpected guest? Or would she say now is a bad time?

Balance and inquiries

Skyler turned the corner toward the living room and found Verona sitting at her desk, working on a news letter for the church she attended. As he approached, she continued to focus upon her screen. "Good morning, spotted lizard." He walked over to her side to glance over what was on the screen, but nothing of note caught his eye. "Mom, I have something serious I want to talk to you about." She continued what she was doing, but glanced slightly in his direction. "I'm listening." He let out a breath. His mind ran over what Zissu was offering them and what that would actually mean. A few days could be anywhere from two to five days. At least, that was what tended to be true.

Now that Skyler thought about it, he wasn't so sure why she was so interested in living with him of all people. Trying to discuss that with his mother was out of the question though. This left him with the only other topic on his mind. He leaned over to kiss the top of Verona's head. "I have a friend who needs a place to stay for a few days. She's even willing to pay us $150 per day if you say yes. What do you think? Is this okay with you?" She stopped working, turning her chair toward him. "Hmm, if she is your friend then I don't have a problem with it. The real question is where would she sleep. It isn't like we have a spare bed or bedroom." He shrugged slightly. "My room is more than big enough. She can sleep there." She lifted a brow. "Hmm, are you sure you're comfortable with this? I don't want you to become too stressed."

This caused Skyler to hesitate. He hadn't really thought about it. Was he actually comfortable with this? Sure, when he was younger he had friends sleepover, but this never included a lady friend. Not that he had many friends when he was younger, let alone lady friends. After thinking about this a little longer, he felt that Zissu was nice enough to take the risk. It wasn't like he could truly stop her anyway. He nodded slightly. "Yeah, I'll be fine. If worse comes to worse. I can drink some more orange juice." Verona looked down then up into his eyes with a worried expression. "All right."

After a moment longer, Verona looked around. "Where is she anyway? Is she headed over?" Skyler smiled. "She's awaiting your decision in my room. I'll go tell her the good news." She lifted a brow. "I haven't agreed yet." He had started to turn, but stopped upon hearing that. "Huh? Why not? I thought you said it would be okay since she was my friend." She had a stern look upon her face. "First off, you haven't given me any warning. I know nothing about this friend. I trust your judgement, but I want to meet her first. I will give my verdict afterwards."

Skyler looked down while thinking about that. His mother was right. It was odd of him to spring something like this on her. It wasn't something he would normally do without advanced warning or an extremely good reason. Like Zissu's house burned down or something. He nodded slightly. "Shall I send her to the kitchen?" Verona turned her attention back to her screen. "Send her out in a few minutes. I want to save my progress first." He nodded slightly before walking back toward his bedroom. Verona called out as he turned the corner. "I love you."

Skyler turned while continuing to walk. "I love you too." When he faced where he was walking to, his eyes found Zissu was awaiting him in the entryway. She playfully smiled. "Oh? I didn't think you cared that much about me." He lifted a brow while tilting his head as he walked passed her and into his room. "I generally care, but I don't know you that well yet." She stuck out her tongue at him as her score skyrockets up to 80. "That's fair. I guess we'll have to work on that. Won't we?" She playfully smiled while moving closer to him. She slipped a piece of paper into his right hand. "So, what did she say?"

Charisma has increased from 17 to 18.

Upon feeling a piece of paper in his hand, Skyler looked at it. It had the web address for the Abyss Auction written on it along with basic instructions on how to sign in. "She told me to send you out to the kitchen in a few minutes. To be fair, I did spring this on her at the last minute." Zissu sighed softly as she slowly walked in front of him. "True, but this area is known for the men being in charge. Why aren't you in charge?" She playfully ran a hand down along the middle of his back. He turned slightly in her direction. "That is probably because I am not the bread winner in this house."

Zissu walked over to Skyler's smaller recliner and moved to sit down on it. Her eyes watched him for a moment. "Yet you live in the largest room in the house." He rolled his eyes. "Bigger isn't always better." He was about to ask how she knew that he lived in the biggest room in the house. However, he realized it was likely because of the illusion barrier he first met her in. She likely explored the house before selecting to hide out in an illusion barrier of his room. She looked down toward his crotch then back up into his eyes. "Well, some big things can be nice."

Skyler shook his head before walking over to his other recliner to sit down. "I will take your word for it. I wouldn't know." Zissu looked to him as her score dropped down to 75. "Did you just admit to me that you have a small penis? I mean dick." He just realized the idiotic statement he ran into. Although this wasn't the first time in his life he ran into such a joke. He made a mental note to not make that mistake again. After which, he looked to her. "No, I am saying that I don't have experience in such matters. So I wouldn't know." Her eyes widened, but is soon replaced by a look of horror as her score plummeted to 50. "No way. Are you saying you're a virgin?"

Skyler wasn't truly surprised by the sharp drop in score, but he hadn't expected it to drop that far. Should he lie to her to try and recover some points? Or should he do what he normally would and stick to the truth?
