Chapter 23

What will you spend your fame on?
Before you do that, something else catches your eye.
As you look through all the options for spending fame, a new notification appears. Not being in a hurry to spend your fame when you were somewhat close to unlocking a new form, you decide you may as well investigate.
Navigating through your menu, you at last reach the notification.
You have maintained Raid Boss status for over 24 hours!
You have been permitted access to the Zone Lord message channel, and the World Diplomacy message channel.
You cover your eyes with your hands before removing them and checking the message again a few times. You, the now level 7 skeleton, have been added to the message groups used in major politics and decisions in the overarching world!?!
You fall backwards onto the floor, too stunned to be able to hold yourself upright. You stay like that for a moment, unable to regain control over your limbs as shock leaves you paralyzed. How do you address this? It's not like you could have anything of importance to say in those meetings, after all.
As you lay petrified on the floor, a new notification appears.
There is (1) unread message in message channel:
World Diplomacy
Would you like to read it?
You barely hold back from crying (despite its physical impossibility) as you slowly inch your hand forward to move to the message channels area on the menu. You then painstakingly move your shaking hand to select the channel in question. What you see almost makes your (two) souls leave your body.
[Messages unavailable due to predating user]
{System} User: Netherus has joined the channel. (Rank=Raid Boss, Race=Undead, Region=Vastitas)
{Gold_Blade} Huh? we got a new guy?
Well, there goes your hopes and dreams. You cover your face to lament your most certainly swiftly approaching **** at the hands of what could possibly be a collection of the most powerful beings in the entirety of the world.
Then again, they probably wouldn't even care about you... That's right! As long as you just lay low, and let them forget about you, they probably wont think about attacking some level 7 skeleton. Your reasoning put you back into a calm enough state to move your hand.
Only to be met by a new wall of messages.
{Grave_Keeper} Oooo~ Finally a fellow resurrected! I wonder what they are, a Litch? Perhaps even a corpse mound?
{Final_Throne} Don't get too excited you rot bag, for all we know he's just a vampire.
{Grave_Keeper} Oh, right. I hate those fucks!
{Grave_Keeper} Just because there is some stupid fascination with the adventurers and romance with those glorified leaches, they are a prominent Undead!
{Gold_Blade} Lyth, why would you do this to us? You know how they get when you bring up vampires!
{Grave_Keeper} Most of them didn't even die for gods' sakes, they just got bit or something. I swear, it's like calling a werewolf an undead!
There was something oddly inviting about their casual tone. It was more like a group of friends than some great meeting of the world powers. You aren't quite sure who they all were, as unlike you they didn't get introductions. You suppose that does make sense, they had been here longer, after all.
You slowly manage to build up enough courage to type out a message of you own.
{Netherus} Hello?
{Final_Throne} And so they speak.
{Grave_Keeper} You better not be a vampire!
{Grave_Keeper} If you are, I swear I will find you wherever you are and make sure there is nothing left to revive!
{Gold_Blade} Don't let them scare you, they usually are more calm than that... Unless you are a vampire, then be fittingly scared because I don't know if any of us could stop them at that point
After this first reception, you felt emboldened. At last, you had a way to truly speak! Of course, it was with a collection of beings who could probably kill you without a second thought, but still. It was nice to some connection of a sort like this.
As another message came in, you felt it necessary to continue speaking.
{Grave_Keeper} I will find a way to bring sunlight to every square inch of your dungeon so there is nowhere you can respawn!
{Netherus} Not a vampire.
{Grave_Keeper} Oh, good! We are fine then ;p
{Gold_Blade} Turning on a dime as always. Did your attention span die with your first life or?
{Grave_Keeper} I know where you live, Gassy!
{Gold_Blade} Don't call me that in front of the new guy! I need to make a good impression
{Netherus} Is it just you three?
{Final_Throne} No, but I'm the resident peacekeeper at the second so no one else big will show up. Aside from you, apparently. Didn't expect a new Raid Boss to come with the update.
{Gold_Blade} Oh wait, I don't even get to newbie haze, do I? Ugh, how come they made a new Raid Boss who got to skip all the initiation steps?
You feel partially tempted to tell them the truth about your actual strength level. They seem kind enough, and you don't feel like they have anything worse than some teasing or light messing with in mind for what they would do.
Then again, you don't know about the others who would probably be able to see these messages later. You don't feel like you could trust every person who could show up in the message group. Plus, there was a use in them thinking you were stronger than you actually are.
You consider for a moment about how you should handle this.
Well, do you tell them the truth?
