Chapter 4 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

What defender will meet the hero and/or the villain?

Bedevalus issues a challenge to the giants! (Perversion)

The abundant seas surrounding the tower of the Reality Crystal provided Fishfreak the power she needed to restore her giant form, with rubbery, blue, scaled skin and wrapped in sea-weed. As she grew, however, so too did Gaia Daughter behind her, restoring her super-heroic form, including its characteristically skimpy suit and strange mask. Jervale watched it all from the tower with a look of bemusement, sighing as the two locked arms and began to wrestle, eclipsing the sunlight and casting the immense tower in literal shadows to match its metaphorical darkness. It was pretty rare to see two hostile creatures reach the tower together... and, furthermore, to ignore the tower entirely.

Even if they were ignoring it, he thought there was a pretty good chance they'd smash their big butts into it. Then who would be left to clean up the mess? The butler, that's who. It sounded like a giant pain waiting to be thrust upon him, pun intended.

Worst, that noise was going to draw a certain defender out there... one who would draw this whole noisy, messy process out further than it needed to be. With a scowl growing across his face, he searched the tower for Bedevalus. If the knight knew there were two literal giants outside, he would definitely-

"Ho there, lady giants! I, Bedevalus, have arrived to meet your challenge. Anyone who wishes to get their hands upon the Reality Crystal must first go through the tower's defenders. I am one among the strongest, therefore, I will eagerly take on the two of you."

Jervale clicked his teeth irritably, noticing that Mekanee, sitting in her hangar and preparing to launch a new anti-giant machine, was wearing the same expression. He'd been watching the door, preparing to close it the moment Bedevalus got too close, but the fighter had gone to one of the tower's upper windows instead and now leaned his broad-shouldered torso out of it to speak to the giants. He was half-tempted to close the window on him out of spite, but he restrained himself. "Very well, Bedevalus. Let's see how the last noble knight handles two giants. If they get off on voring him, I'll be tickled pink." He actually doubted that he could derive any pleasure from that, but he watched on anyway, just hoping to see something new.

The two women stared at each other other for a moment with confusion, before the fishy one finally peeled back her fangs in a giant smirk. "One PUny HUman with horns SEEKS to CHALLenge an enTIRE ocean?" she spoke simply, the blue flesh around her eyes curling so that those yellow, gelatinous orbs became like thin crescent moons in the sky. "You are HARDly a threat, LITTle man. AlLOW me to FINnish FOOLish GaiA DAUGHter first and I will HAPpiLY make YOU my AFter-DINNer snack, GUO guo GUO guo...!"

Gaia Daughter was more hesitant... she could sense an amazing energy coming from the man, as well as throughout the tower. The fact that he wanted to take on the two of them together seemed to indicate that he didn't care about their motivations at all... it was rare to find a rational entity equally enamored with the idea of fighting Mother Earth's superheroine and a corrupt, fish-based super-villain. "Do not interrupt, Bedevalus. There is no reason for us to fight."

"Isn't there? Then perhaps you are unaware. The Reality Crystal is all-powerful... it can curse your enemies, provide infinite strength, grant all wishes, for a price. It is unthinkable that anyone could resist coveting such a prize." These were bold words, but in truth, he'd never wanted the Reality Crystal... when he'd come to the tower, he'd hoped to protect people by slaying a demon. That seemed like ages ago now...

Jervale thought to himself that a defender who reveals the presence of rich treasure somewhere inside the tower to the unaware is pretty ill-suited for his job, but he didn't bother scolding Bedevalus. This wasn't the first time the idiot knight had done so for the sake of getting a fight and it probably wouldn't be the last. At the very least, it ought to move things along.

"AaaaAAAH, so that is what I SENSED! Gero geRO... It SOUNDS like a TROphEE worthy of my OWNnerSHIP-!" As Fishfreak continued smirking, Gaia Daughter gave her an unsporting sucker-punch across the side of the face, sending sea creatures flying in all directions. "BIIIiiiiiIIIIItch!"

Ignoring the insult, Japan's defender crossed her arms disapprovingly and looked to Bedevalus. "You must not offer this creature such a powerful tool. In the interests of Mother Earth, I must confiscate that crystal. Please bring it here and we will have no need to quarrel."

"Nay, we must quarrel." The knight smirked, shouldering his broadsword in what may have been a cool pose, if he wasn't leaning out of Princess' Oda's window, which he'd chosen only because it gave him the closest proximity to the faces of the giants. Even now, he was still more at boob level than head height. "I demand it. If you want to reach the crystal, then a sporting competition is your only chance."

"And yet it is no chance for you..." The woman's booming voice was almost sympathetic. "I must not wield my power against humans."

"I stopped being a human a long time ago. I'm a demon now..."

Bedevalus' words belay something of a tragic backstory, but it didn't change the fact that he intended to stand in her way. "Very well. We will fight."

The knight's eyes widened and he clasped both fists in front of his face, trying to hide a look of childish glee as it spread across his face. Finally! A real challenge! It seemed like he was finally going to get to fight giants, possibly two on one! His sword-hand twitched in anticipation as he began to contemplate which of his techniques would be best suited to fight huge opponents like these.

"However, I must insist on a modification to the rules of this engagement..."

The knight's face froze and his gauntlet's fingers began to slide down his cheeks, pulling the skin back from his eyes in a gesture of annoyance. He'd seen this happen too many times before.

What modification does Gaia Daughter wish to make?
