Backup plans

The Nurturing Head sat back in her chair and massaged her temples. This situation with Nebula was nothing short of a disaster. Nebula's interference was annoying as it was, although not without a fairly simple solution. The girl was always going to be trouble with her obsession with conspiracies. And the failure of three entire Division heads to solve the problem was an old issue. Plans between the bickering schoolgirls of Sam's life were bound to fall apart. That was why it was so necessary for the Harem Society to include as many people as they could.

No, what truly irked her was this website situation. Whoever was out there and had created this site knew too much about Sam's life and the lives of his friends. If there was a potential leak, or worse, a traitor in their midst, it could ruin all the careful planning they had set so meticulously. Graduation wasn't too far away, when Sam and the youngest members of the Society would be free from high school.

"This is bad...this is really, really bad," a voice whispered from the shadows.

The Nurturing Head glanced towards a dark corner. "I'm surprised you managed to keep quiet so long. You can come out now."

Candy slowly emerged from her hiding place, sweating through her mask and her cheerleader uniform. "Nebula's damn near relentless. If she helps Sam find out what we're doing, he'll hate us! He'll never speak to us again!"

"Calm down, Candy," The Nurturing Head said. "Sam won't learn anything until he needs to. Your position to return to his life hasn't changed."

Candy breathed a sigh of relief. The only reason she got involved in the Harem Society was to get back in touch with Sam. The two had drifted apart since childhood, when they used to be best friends. Jealousy ate at her when she saw Chris with him every single day. The irony wasn't lost on her that a vengeful prank on Chris ended with her helping Candy to be invited to the Harem Society.

"Um, can I ask a question?" Candy asked. "Why are you letting those three take care of this? Isn't it their fault this got out of hand?"

"I'm a believer in second chances," The Nurturing Head explained. "But don't worry. I'm not trusting everything to them. The Harem Society always has a backup plan."

"Is that why I'm here?" Candy asked.

"Indeed." The Nurturing Head rose from her seat and reached under her desk. She pulled out several folders and opened each of them. "In addition to this little incident, our plans must continue on schedule. I'm assigning everyone in our Faction a special task. The other Factions will handle things beyond Graduation."

The Nurturing Head selected a folder and handed it to Candy. "Take this to the Division on the folder. Then report to your own Division. You girls are going to be very busy until Graduation."

Candy smiled and accepted the folder. "I'm on it!"
