What's next?
Backpack For Feya
Akira slept deeply. Once again he was in the void. This time though, nothing appeared before him. However, the voice could still be heard.
"Find me Akira"
Still the same words as before.
"Find me in Almatis"
Akira jerked awake once again. The sun had barely began rising. Feya was still sleeping on the pillow. Akira rubbed his eyes and dragged himself out of bed. His stomach gave a loud growl. He hadn't eaten since he arrived which was now two days ago. He was starving. Now though, he had money to buy him and Feya some food and hopefully find something more comfortable than a pocket for Feya to hide in. Akira got the small pouch of gold he had been given out of his pocket and poured it's contents onto the bed. He counted them. Ten gold pieces lay there. Akira wasn't sure if ten gold was a lot or a little but he was sure it was enough to buy some food. The coins themselves were interesting. On one side a crown was etched into it. The other side bore the head of a lion and around the outside words had been carved into it, "Official Coin From the Kingdom of Galdora". Akira tossed the coins in his hand for a moment, wondering what all he could spend them on. He was dying for some type of meat but he would settle for anything as small as soup at this point. A noise in the corner got Akira's attention. Feya had yawned and was sitting up.
"Uhh...what time is it?" She asked.
"Early" Akira told her. "Do you think any food shops will be open now?"
Akira's stomach let off another loud growl.
"I hope so" Feya responded as her tiny stomach also let out a howl.
Akira and Feya both jumped up. Feya hopped into Akira's pocket and they made there way out onto the main street. The smell of food was fresh in the air and Akira's nose led him to one of the shops. He opened the door and was immediately met with the best smelling fresh bread he had ever encountered. Behind the counter stood a very large older lady wearing an apron covered in flour. Her grey hair was a mess and she looked extremely tired but wore a smile on her face as Akira approached.
"Hello dearie, what can I get ya?" She asked.
"Uhmm..." Akira almost started drooling over the selection there was but needed to know how much this was going to set him back first.
"How much is just a basic loaf?" He asked.
"Five silver for loaf dearie" She told him.
Akira's mind exploded with possibilities. He didn't know silver was also a currency here. Akira started to think the ten gold was worth a lot more than he originally thought.
"Can I get two normal loafs then please" He asked.
Akira didn't know how much silver would make up one gold piece but his stomach growling told him that he didn't care.
"Ten silver then please dearie" the lady said, holding out her hand.
Akira took out a gold piece and placed it into her hand.
"Ooo, a gold piece, don't see many of them around here, hold on while I get you your change".
The lady walked over to a draw, opened it and grabbed a handful of silver pieces. She then returned to Akira and placed them in his hand. He wasn't sure how much was there just yet but he placed them into his pouch before grabbing the bread he had just purchased.
Back out on the street he took the time to count the silver pieces he now had. Fifteen silver coins lay in his hands, all with the same markings as the gold coins. Akira figured that that meant there were twenty five silver pieces to one gold piece. Akira almost jumped he was so happy. He was positive that this money would get him through for a least a week.
Akira was so **** to eat something, he tore a piece of bread off of his loaf, but before putting it in his mouth, remembered about Feya in his pocket. He opened up his pocket and dropped the bread inside. A slight squeak of happiness could be heard as Feya began devouring the bread. Akira then wandered the street again, looking for some place to buy some sort of backpack. As he walked, he ripped off more bread, occasionally putting some in his pocket. After walking around for a while, Akira finally spotted a shop that looked useful. The sign outside read "Adlan's Random Goods". Akira opened the door and headed inside. The first thing Akira noticed was a slight musty smell in the air. Dust covered a lot of the stuff in here but very quickly, Akira noticed a decent sized backpack hung up above the shop counter. Stood underneath it was a strange looking man. He wore a bright purple turban and had a long thin moustache the grew a few inches off of each side of his face accompanied by a long thing beard. He also wore very large glasses which made his eyes look huge. As Akira got closer, he noticed the man was actually stood on a pile of books and that he could be no larger than four foot tall.
"Ahhh, customers, welcome welcome" the odd man said. "My name is Adlan, is there anything specific you're looking for?"
"Uhh, I need a backpack, the one right there looks big enough". Akira pointed above the man.
"Ahhh, an adventurers backpack, good choice, more spacious inside than you might think".
The whole time the man was talking he was fixated on Akira's pocket. Akira wondered if he knew that Feya was in there but blew it off since there was no way he could know.
"Is the backpack for yourself? or to hide...things... like that pixie"
Akira froze, he wasn't sure how this man knew but somehow, he had figured out that Feya was in his pocket.
"No need to worry little pixie, I mean no harm to the likes of the Fey". He said, a strange grin on his face. "It has been ever so long since I saw one of your kind"
Feya, without saying anything, flew out of Akira's pocket and looked straight at the man. She stared at the man for a good few seconds before saying anything.
"You're a jackal aren't you?"
"Ooo, very clever little pixie" Adlan said clapping his hands together. "Now, let me guess, identification?"
Akira had no idea what the man was talking about or how he even knew about Feya to begin with.
"How did you know?" Feya asked.
"Because I am the same"
"Ok, hold on, what's going on? What do you mean identification?" Akira asked, feeling a little left out.
"Identification is the little pixie's ability" Adlan said.
"And what does that do?"
"Identification allows one to "Identify" certain things. Certain thing such as other fey creatures or magical items". Adlan finished, rubbing his beard a little.
"That's how I knew what ability you had gotten yesterday" Feya told Akira.
"I wasn't even aware you had an ability"
"All fey creatures gain at least one ability throughout there life, some get more but usually it's only one. I got identification" Feya ended with a smile.
"I also only got one, which just happened to be the same as hers hehehe" Adlan said, doing a little jig.
"What's a jackal then?" Akira asked.
"A jackal is meee"
Akira ignored the strange man and turned to Feya to get a straight answer.
"A jackal is a from of shapeshifter, they can morph there body to look like most other creatures".
"Why a human though?" Akira asked. "Isn't it a little dangerous for fey to be so near humans all the time?
"Oooo, not for me, the only time somebody knows that I'm not human, is when it's another fey hehehe".
Akira had so many more questions but he was very happy being around this creature so he changed the conversation back to the backpack.
"So, how much for this then?"
"Well you see, the only items I sell in this shop have been...enhanced...that backpack for example, it looks normal on the outside, but on the inside its three times as large and weighs almost nothing on your back".
"That sounds amazing" Akira said, before thinking that this backpack is going to cost a fortune.
"Normally I would charge around ten gold for something like that but I like you both hehehe. If you promise to come back here and talk to me on occasion, I will let you have it for three gold pieces".
Akira wasn't sure if this was some strange trick to get more money out of them but three gold pieces for a backpack like that actually sounded like a decent deal so without waiting any longer, Akira grabbed the three gold pieces and handed them over to Adlan. They both shook hands and Adlan waved goodbye to the two after they promised to come back from time to time.
"He might be a little strange, but some of those items could be very useful" Feya said as she started climbing into their new purchase. "Ooooo it's so big"
After buying a few more bits of food, Akira headed back to the inn with Feya comfortably tucked away. Once they were back in there room, Feya hopped out and lay flat on the bed. Ever since the fight with the orcs the night before. One thing had been bothering Akira. Feya told him about his new command ability, but what were all those memory flashed and the searing pain? He decided to ask Feya to Help him out once again.
