Chapter 23 by Yabusa Yabusa

Continue with Josie, or find a way out?

Archer barges in

Given that you left the door unlocked, it was no effort on Archer's part to enter your apartment, with her usual smile plastered on her face, though it didn't last very long. "Hey bud, how's--huh."

Josie turned around, still only dressed in her underwear, while you fortunately had not yet been disrobed. That was one of the few saving graces of this unfortunate encounter. The fire returned to Josie's eyes, as she stormed over toward Archer. "Are you hiding her, huh? I need to talk with Archer right now, she needs to take her name out of consideration for the team."

Felicia paused, looking toward you, then back to Josie, then back to you, then Josie. "...I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of a miss Felicia Archer at this time."

With a growl, Josie reached out to grab at Felicia's shirt, to hold her in place. Felicia was having none of that though, as with a bizarrely fast motion with her hands, she broke the grip Josie had on her shirt and knocked her hand away. She looked down and frowned. "Ah, thanks a lot, Tits McGee. Now my shirt's wrinkled and you popped a button off."

Josie didn't even bother forming a coherent vocal response at the insult, her anger from earlier simply bubbling up to the surface again and now she had to take it out on somebody. "It's MCCALL!" She took a clumsy swing at Felicia, who very impressively brushed away the punch like it was nothing, diverting its momentum. Felicia turned for the briefest of moments to open the door again, right as Josie was winding up for a second strike with her other hand. It was another fairly clumsy punch, even if it probably would have some power behind it. Felicia sidestepped it, grabbed Josie's arm with both hands, and directed that momentum again right out the door. Josie couldn't help but stumble outside the apartment, still in nothing but her underwear, as Felicia closed and locked the door.

"That was kinda unpleasant. Where were we?" Felicia turns around and gives you another smile. "Oh, right. Hey bud, what's up? Oh, free shirt." Felicia starts to undo her wrinkled blouse, as she picks up Josie's old shirt, deciding it would be a nice replacement for her own for the night out. Beyond the door you could hear some muffled yelling, before a defeated McCall seemed to storm off after a while.

"Okay first off," you started, once you were done being petrified by the whole series of events you just witnessed, "where the hell did you learn to move like that?"

Archer adjusted her new shirt a little, and then shrugs. "I took some self defense classes a while ago. It's all about controlling the momentum, or whatever. Use your opponent against themselves."

You didn't know any self defense classes that taught how to do movie-grade martial arts, but you let it slide. "Okay, fine, but next question..." you dropped your arms, and looked sorrowfully at Archer. "I hope you're not mad? I'm really sorry, she just sort of came in here and I didn't know how to react, and..."

"Oh, yeah, it's cool." Archer smiles right at you. "I mean, whoever you want to sleep with, that's your deal and you're still my friend. It's when you're Jane that I'd be jealous."

"You... you know we're the same person, right?" You were happy that Archer wasn't going to throw you out of a window with this apparent secret kung fu that she knew, but you were confused by her reaction, even though it was obvious that her demeanor changed towards you depending on which body you were presenting as.

Archer shrugs. "I mean, as long as those events with you being you doesn't get in the way of you being her. It's like that old boat... the one where all the planks were replaced... oh, right. If an old wooden ship suddenly transformed into a beautiful woman, is it still the Ship of Theseus? I am gonna say no, no matter what all those Japanese video games claim. Honestly, it's all right, John! But, we do have a date with some new friends and with just under two hours we're going to be cutting it close in getting you ready and getting there. So can you flip the coin so we can start?"

That is a huge relief. A huge, unexpected relief.

Except for the occasional check to see if Josie had returned outside your door, you and Archer got to work on your look for the evening. Button up blouse, crop top jacket, and jeans was a good casual look and you felt pretty comfortable in it. Archer seemed to step up your makeup game though, this time giving you a little more color and style as she made your face her canvas. "Teaching you how to do all this is going to be just as fun as getting to do it myself, but it'll be way nicer when I can be surprised by what your own style ends up being."

A little more work with the hair was all that Archer needed to finish up with you, before she made sure she was ready to go as well. She seemed to really admire this new shirt of hers, in particular... soon she was grinning once more at the dressed up you as she led you out of the apartment to go get some drinks and see where the night leads.

How does the rest of the afternoon go?
