An omen of things to come.

Having cleaned yourselves up, as well as the floor, you depart your bedroom to a communal dining area, where Xandria is already sitting and enjoying breakfast. He has a seemingly knowing smile as you enter, which warms your face in embarrassment. You wonder what those pointy, half-elf ears might have heard. If he does know, he chooses not to remark on it in anyway, which helps put you slowly at ease.

"Good morning, to my two favorite traveling companions!" He greated heartily "I trust you both had a sound night?"

"Very" You reply "With all the work we'd been up to, I fell like a rock in a stream. That, and how much more comfy the bed is than what I'm used to, I'm surprised I got up at all"
Without a word spoken, a few young members of the dragonblooded clan pop out from the kitchen and arrive with hefty helpings of food on large plates. You didn't order anything, and you're not even entirely sure what they're giving you, but it looks amazing.

"It was very welcome" Dilancia added, formal as ever "I know sooner or later on this journey, we will have to start roughing it in the wilderness, but I keep reminding myself to not to look forward to it. Enjoy the luxuries while we can." She does a quick survey of the area before speaking quietly "I am a little surprised actually, that we are the only guests here. What do you supposed caused that?"

"Couldn't say" Xandria responded quickly "I noticed it too, but thought nothing of it. Place being out of the way, and costly, you wouldn't get your average citizen to come here, if they even know about it."

"They do, but not in the way you think" You hear a voice from behind you that causes to jolt in surprise. "Greetings, kind guests. I'm Harrick, leader of this familial clan and operator of this prestigious business" The Dragonkin was larger than his kin, but also noticeably more frail; he seemed to have a hunch and his scales lacked the luster and shine the younger members seemed to possess "The previous proprietors here ran a bordello out of here, a haven for the unspeakable and impermissible in the eyes of the King."

The three of you look at each other curiously before the ranger speaks up "Wow. Must have taken quite a bit of coin to clean them out" Dilancia rolls her eyes at the pun, intended or not, but keeps silent. Harrick chuckles slightly.

"Actually, not at all. The King had swept them out. It was a well known secret among the dregs, but after the King's son got one of the whores pregnant, the secret got out and had to be addressed. After they got pushed out, I saw an opportunity to take it over with no competition. Of course, now I have to wash myself of the predecessor's reputation. Couple that with rumors of monsters roaming the wilderness at night, and we're in a bit of a pinch." His clawlike hands rested on the shoulders of you and the Colonel. "But don't you worry about us here. If you can get bring some foot traffic our way, that would be greatly appreciated, but we'll manage even if you don't. Even if we never have another guest, this place is large and ample enough for our clan to support ourselves. Now, I've taken up enough of your time. Please, enjoy your breakfast, and depart at your leisure." Harrick leaves you in peace.

"Well" Xandria begins while still stuffing his mouth "A worthwhile omen of what's to come, I suppose. That's the fastest way to get where we're looking to go, but it is avoidable, and it sounds like those folks don't know how to have a good time."

"I have friends and adherants in that Kingdom" Dilancia retorted quickly but calmly.

"Fine upstanding place without equal, I'm sure" Xandria was quick to respond "Still, of all the places to misbehave, this is probably the worst place to do it."

"It's unavoidable at this point" Dilancia responded authoritatively "Demetria here needs to be outfitted as a proper Initiate, and this will probably be the only way to do that without going back the way we came."

The half-elf dropped his tableware and raised his hands in surrender "Hey, I get it. It's you two running the show here, I'm just the guest, and happily so. Just saying, be sure to cross your I's and dot your T's." Xandria took a final bite of food in a most undignified manner, raising his plate and scooping food with his bare hands. "If that's the new plan, we should probably get a move on. Shopping and outfitting takes time, and we're already behind schedule."

"Agreed" You both finish your own food quickly and prepare for the next leg of your journey. The next Kingdom is not far off, and with some luck, you were able to hitch a ride on a straw carriage, reaching the Kingdom just after noon.
