An ethical dilemma.

Marigold took a deep, long drink from the water fountain to try and cool herself down. She wanted to splash water all over herself to get rid of the uncomfortable heat rising in her tummy, but that would just ruin her makeup; she had to look good for her friends.

Marigold leaned on the fountain's rim and gave a shuddering sigh. The water hadn't helped at all. She was burning up and light-headed. Maybe she really was sick?

No, that wasn't it. It was those glasses. Those wonderful, awful glasses.

Marigold took the x-ray specs off and stared at them. By all accounts, they were totally normal glasses, if a little bulky in the rims. Plus there were the dials and tiny buttons on the right side, and a few red lights on the left. But when she turned the dial... she could see through people's clothes.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Fizz had given these glasses to her for a reason. He'd chosen her, of all people, to have them. She was a good girl, Marigold told herself, and Fizz could somehow sense it. Yeah, that was it. The glasses were hers because she was responsible and sensible and respectful of people's privacy. He just wanted to give her a new, um, perspective on things. Whatever that meant.

Marigold had lost herself in her newfound power when she'd stared at her friend. Her beautiful, powerful, strong friend who she could barely take her eyes off of normally, much less when she was, um, dressed down.

The back of the aluminum water fountain was as shiny as a mirror. Marigold looked at herself in its reflection and knew that there was only one person she could test the glasses on without upsetting her conscience.

With shaking fingers, Marigold put the glasses back on and reached for the dial.
