Chapter 7
START:DASH?
All Boarding Stellar Maestro
You heard the voice over the intercom and the throng around you started to move, cutting through the disorentation of being in one place then suddenly another. There was barely any time to react and move out of the way before you were swept up the mass of people. Knowing escape or attempting to get out of it some other way would be futile, all you could do was follow.
She really intended for you to board that spaceship, even if that meant being trampled.
Moving felt strange, like everything about your body had shifted and reattached itself in some strange, yet familiar, configuration. In the confusion your hand had let go of the strap to some sort of backpack - heavy - you carried and was threatening to slide off your shoulder. Trying to reach for it with your other hand, you noticed it held some sort of electronic sheet with characters written in... Japanese. Afraid for a second it'd be some sort of Alien language, you breathed a sigh of relief.
Immigration/Boarding Pass for Stellar Maestro:
Name: Makoto Sato; Species: Metahuman; Standard Earth Age: 18; Gender: Female.
There was some more information, like height, weight and some other measurements letting you make a passable guess of how you looked now. Although without a picture or time to focus on inspecting your new body, it was all speculation.
At least you were coming up to the right gate, you thought as you passed by a large window. A window opening up to a view you had only seen on satellite images of Earth. Only it was not Earth down below, but another planet entirely. Your vision grew faint for a second, blurring with static as the realization of being in another world hit you in that moment.
"...miss ...miss ...your card, miss."
You followed the voice back to consciousness. Not really noticing how you instinctively responded to the feminine title. All you could was hand the electric sheet over, hoping that was enough while trying to not look entirely lost.
"Guess it's your first time in space, you have that face. Look at that, so young and already leaving the big nest. The tight corridors can be a bit labyrinthine at first, but your F.A.I.R.Y should have all the maps for reference including your cabin number. Everything is in order miss. Fly free now." The avian humanoid handed back the sheet. Something you guessed was a smile formed around his beak, hard to tell with all the feathers in the way. "NEXT!"
Oh, god...dess. Making the quick adjustment, feeling fairly certain she was listening in on your thoughts. You had no idea what this fairy thing he mentioned even was or how to activate it. But that was an issue for later, now you just had to move forward, not that you had a choice in the direction as you felt something insistent push against your back.
It took a while for the crowd to thin, spreading out through twisting side corridors one-by-one after passing through some sort of lock as you transitioned into the Stellar Maestro. Everything looked the same, a sterile white, mixed with some metallic colors.
Letting out a long breath, you slid down the wall to the floor. You pulled up your knees to your breast, resisting the urge to touch them to see if they were real. It was all- shaking your head and clapping your cheeks. Come on now, you can do this Makoto! Gambate!
"Umm... are you Sato-san?" The voice was faint and when you searched for the source you found it practically beside you. How had you missed her? "Ehheh!?! You... y-yo-you're looking at me so... so..." She was squirming under your - intense? - scrutiny, arms held tight to her body, which only served to push out and emphasize her massive chest. Long, black hair fully covered one of her sea-blue eyes, flitting nervously around the room. She was pretty.
You must have said that part out loud as her skin drained of color, except for the area around her cheeks.
Raising your self up slowly, non-threateningly, for fear of scaring her away. Keeping your mouth clamped shut until you were certain you had full control over your traitorous tongue. "Yhea, I'm Sato. I admit I'm a little lost, could you help me find my cabin?" Your stomach grumbled. Guess you hadn't eaten since before that truck hit you. "Maybe some food too. Sorry, should've asked for your name first before making any demands."
"Kuromiya Usa-usagi. Your roommate." Her blush grew deeper. At least it explained why she was out searching for you. "Is yo-your F.A.I.R.Y malfunctioning, if so one my fri-acquaintances is a cyberneticist." At your puzzled expression, she added. "She doesn't charge much, but it-it's definitely not a scam or anything."
No, you just still had no idea what the fairies were, nor what a cyberneticist had to do with them. And don't say things like that it only makes you seem more suspicious, not less! "Not sure, honestly. How do you even activate this fairy-thing anyway, Usagi-chan?"
"You don't know?" The shock of her question made her forget about fretting nervously for a second, the disbelief obvious in her soft voice. "Umm, to call me that already... fine... Sato-ch-c-san, try saying 'Fairy Start-up Sequence Begin' while thinking it really hard. Yo-you don't need to say the words, but they c-can help sometimes when its hard to get your thoughts in order..." She trailed away, practically prepared to bury herself under the deck from making some kind of embarrassing confession.
"Fairy Start-up Sequence Begin!!" You tried the incantation, thrusting your arm forward dramatically with your fingers splayed outwards. Kuromiya yelped, jumping out of the way.
"F-type Artificial Intellige- and so on. Heh, though you can call me Kami. Nice of you to do that earlier by the way, not as much as a dummy as I thought you were." A miniature version of the goddess floated before your eyes, her twintails drifting aimlessly as if she was underwater. She wore some sort of futuristic plugsuit that clung tightly to her body. A pop-up blocked your view after your eyes had strayed to her privates, becoming increasingly transparent as you looked elsewhere. It said you had ¥50'000 in your internal wallet. Good to know. "Now what is your query?"
