A week later, you’re watching the news in your dorm room when the breaking report flashes across the screen: Rabbi Shmuley Found Dead in Prison Cell. Alleged Suicide.

Your phone buzzes. A message from Ghost.

“Told you.”

You stare at the screen, your fingers tightening around the phone. Doubt creeps in, insidious and unwelcome. But you push it back.

You did what was right. Heroes don’t take the law into their own hands. They don’t kill monsters on their own. They believe, have to believe, that the system can change.

One day, you hope it will.
