Maiden flight
Adjusting to change
Kelly wasn’t sure how fast the wings would need to go to get his feet off the ground. Or would they at all? The other fairies barely had to put in any effort, and they fluttered around constantly.
Was it magic?
With thoughts of clouds and soaring away from idiot wizards, Kelly closed his eyes.
Flying…flying…I’m a fairy.
Come on, fairy!
Kelly opened his eyes. The blonde girl in the mirror was hovering, not much but off the floor.
“I-I did it!” Kelly cheered, but the motion had made his balance off and he began to spin backwards. A desperate hand found the end of his skirt, holding it down until he could flip back upright.
A round of polite applause surrounded him, turning to see each of the girls clapping. Kay, Wendy, and Cece were all smiling and Mina’s mouth was as open wide as her eyes. Poppy grinned, making a gesture mimicking his desperate move to maintain his modesty with the skirt.
Kelly went flush.
“Uh-thank you all. So much.” He stammered.
Kay flew over to his side, placing a hand on his arm. “Not a problem, cutie. You’re officially one of us.”
Oh. Well, compared to how he’d been on his own so far, maybe that wasn’t so bad.
Poppy flew up suddenly, kissing the tip of Kelly’s nose. “Ahh, she’s so CUTE. I don’t think I want to share her with the boys.”
