He handled himself well on the battlefield, as good as any Amazon. I was barely able to beat him. He was so polite and humble when I captured him. He fell before me on his knees and looked at the ground. Then he simply said, "My life is yours. Do with me what you will. You are a worthy opponent." I was fascinated by him. He was not like all the others we had fought. Most of them were cruel and arrogant, but not him. I think if I am honest with myself, it was then I fell in love with him. He handed me his sword and gave his word he would give me no trouble." She smiled as she thought back on those days. "But I digress, and you need to be brought up to speed."

Adella's curiosity was piqued. "I don't mind hearing about it. Now I'm curious to hear more about you and my father."

Queen Caroline smiled. She looked at Xira. "Well, sister, this is a fine pickle we've gotten ourselves into."

Since you have come of age, you may as well know you are the heiress apparent of both thrones. Princess Alessa is two years younger than you. You are the chosen one. The uniter of the Amazons and Mirantia. Your birth was foretold long ago by the goddess herself. You are the bridge between the world of men and the Amazons."

This was all so much for Adella to process. The chosen one? The bridge? "What about being your mate? It feels a little strange to be the chosen mate of my aunt."

Xira giggled as did Queen Caroline. "My breeding mate, yes. It doesn't mean we're exclusive, only biologically compatible. You can mate with anyone you desire. Even your own mother. I've noticed the way you've been looking at her since she entered the room. She is a very tasty and sexy woman."
