Adam gains an edge

Adam quickly sprang into action. He seized one of Mindy's fists and swung with his other hand, catching her on the side of the head. Mindy had barely begun to react before Shadow hopped back a bit, connecting Mindy's side with a roundhouse kick.

Mindy closed her fingers into a fist, swinging it to bear on the Australian soldier. Adam saw it coming. He seized the Canadian by the wrist and planted his other hand just below her neck, shoving her to the ground hard enough to surprise her.

The Amazonian bouncer blinked at Shadow Ape, unable to believe what had just happened. "I-Impossible!" she blurted, as though stating it would have changed things. She straightened her arm, felt her hands ball into fists. For a brief moment, she saw red. Quickly getting back up on her feet, she snarled, "You filthy jungle rat!"

She quickly threw all of her strength into the punch, but Adam easily sidestepped the attack, seizing the woman's arm and twisting it, then shoving her face-down onto the mat. Mindy grunted as her chin smacked the canvas hard.

Mindy moaned, rolling on her back. Shadow Ape stepped back. "You gotta rely on more than just muscle, luv. But you're pretty good," the soldier remarked casually, as he got her into a half-Nelson. Glancing at the referee, he waited to hear those magic numbers.
