Chapter 6 by Kongforce Kongforce

What choice will you make.

Accept the laudanum when the doctor arrives, allowing yourself to be sedated with the hope that once you wake, you'll be taken to a less isolated place.

The door's hinges groan as Dr. Ashford enters. She is carrying with her a small glass of water. Marton Oakland enters behind her positioning herself by the door to seemingly guard against escape. though escape from a padded cell with chained wrists is highly unlikely.

Dr. Ashford observes that you've calmed yourself as she settles onto the platform besides you. She is holding the glass of water up. The water clouded by the laudanum's oily residue. "Twenty drops. It will ease your distress." Dr. Ashford states handing you the cup. You take the glass with steady hands without tremble. You meet her eyes as you raise it to your lips and see something come across her face. Perhaps surprise at your compliance. Whatever it is, you are too busy to tell.

You **** yourself to drink all the water, noting that the liquid tastes bitter when going down. "Hysteria exhausts the mind. Rest is therapeutic." Dr. Ashford says, taking back the glass.

"Within the hour, you'll sleep, and tomorrow you will wake more lucid, or at the very least, you'll be less troublesome. " she says with an edgey tone. Marton Oakland nodes approving wondering if they should leave you unattended. The doctor says the chains should suffice as the laudanum begins its work. They soon leave the door, closing, leaving you alone.

The **** work quickly as your limbs go heavy as if filled with wet sand. The walls absorb the sound, creating a cocoon of muffled silence. You struggle to hold your eyelids up as you attempt to count the stitches in the padding above you. The numbers start to blur together, and your breathing slows. The chains around you seem to matter less as all your cares fade away.

Your last conscious thought is a fragment of hope as perhaps in sleep, an opportunity will present itself.

Your options

Wake at dawn in the isolation room still in restraints, with a medicaid fog haggling over your mind.

Wake at dawn and discover someone entering your cell.

Dream deeply through the night, waking to find a note.

Which option do you choose
