A white swamp

As the couple walked deeper into the forest, not managing to find any demon for them to hunt.
Time was passing, and after some more eventless walking the two the began to smell something fishy in the air and eventually came across its source, a swamp.

They were in a particularly rocky area with steep terrains on the sides and a large white pool blocking off the only path forward... they could either try to wade through the murky waters, or simply go back and try another route even if it meant wasting a lot of time in the process, time better spent hunting the demons that most likely inhabited the area beyond this swamp.

Well, actually Mei could use some energy to jump to the other side on her own while Ren tried to find another way... or waste even more energy to jump while taking him along.

So... go back?
Or wade through the white swamp?
Or Mei jump alone and scouts while Ren tries to find another way through?
Or Mai jumps with Ren, wasting quite a lot of energy in the process?
