What sort of challenge do they encounter first?

A troubled party and a strange door

Chapter 9 by NeedAMedic NeedAMedic

As they walked, all three women could feel the strange and uncanny nature of the walls around them, the way they seemed to shift and change with every step. They could never see it, of course, the halls directly around them stayed the same, but there was a constant sense, a feeling that somewhere just past the edge of their vision, the Labyrinth shifted in endless unrest.

Skye's face was twisted up with worry, though as she moved, she found that more and more of her concern was for herself and the other two Bravos with her. Were they really up for the task? Emmaline and Liv were both accomplished fighters, of course, but Skye herself... well, when things got dangerous, her best bet had always been to hide and hope for the best.

The confines of the ruined old structure weighed on her as well. There was no sunlight down here, and it took active focus from her to stave off the feeling that the walls were closing in on them, eager to swallow them up into the far depths of the earth.

"Oh, that's interesting!" Emmaline's voice caught Skye off guard, and she realized with a start just how little attention she had been giving their surroundings. She looked up to see that they ha come to an ornate doorway, with light brown stone that seemed to be lacking the cracks and tarnished sheen of the rest of the passageways. On either side of it were the statue figures--buxom idols with massively exaggerated chests, widely flared hips, and thick, veined cocks standing at full attention between their legs.

"Ooooh, they're so neat!" Emmaline said. She fluttered around them, leaning in to closely examine the precise craftsmanship of the stone figures. The way she arched up on the tips of her toes and buzzed about made her seem almost like a hummingbird, and Skye soon found herself pulling a sketching pad from her bag and moving to join her.

"Any guess what might be through here?" Liv asked, but {SKY was already focused in on her new study, intently staring at the closest figure as she marked it's likeness down on the page. She gradually became aware of Liv's gaze boring into the back of her head and turned with a flush.

"It's for, um... research!" she clarified, though it only earned a sigh from Liv.

"Don't take too long, okay? We're down here for a reason, remember?" Liv said. She turned to look at Emmaline who met her gaze with a smirk. The dancer bent down, wrapping a dainty hand around the closest statue's shaft, and giving it a few pumps while giving Liv a suggestive look.

"Look," Liv stared, then paused to let out another exasperated sigh. "I just- I'm going to go ahead. Catch up when you're done with your..." she turned to point her scowl at Skye "...research."

Before either of the other two could say anything, Liv stepped through the doorway, disappearing into the murky shadows that loomed behind it.

The statues stood about 4 feet tall, and Emmaline only had to bend over slightly, as she wrapped a dainty hand around one of their shafts, giving it a few pumps while lowering her eyebrow suggestively at Liv. The sniper rolled her eyes, crossing her arms as she looked past Emmaline and out into the darkness of the room beyond.
