A peaceful solution

You take a while to recover, think and digest. Eventually, you come up with a possible peaceful solution. A while back you had used some of your hoard to have a chess board constructed and delivered by the humans who brought the food. Alisa had read about the game and wanted to play. Without any humans to play with; you begrudgingly agreed to be her opponent. To do so you had to get a board and pieces constructed that were large enough that you could handle them but so could a week human girl.

At first, you found the human game boring and the rules hard to learn but you soon grew to like it. Once or twice you challenged the king to get a fresh opponent. It was also one of the few things that the king would do with his daughter providing some much needed fatherly love. You hoped that the knights that would come for Alisa would know how to play or you would have to find some other way.

It was mid-afternoon when another knight showed up. He looked to be descended from nobility, he rode a black warhorse that looked tasty to you he had a long spear with prongs on the side, normally used for hunting wild boar. Did he expect me to come charging at him? He had an axe strapped to his belt and wore expensive scale mail armour.

"Hult!" I roared, I saw terror in his eyes. "Princess Alisa of this castle has requested that we find a non-violent way for you to defeat me thus proving your worthiness, thus claiming her body as your prize in so becoming the new heir this kingdom." You declared. "I have chosen the human game: Chess in which to test your cunning and skill against mine. Do you wish to participate in the game?" You ask
