Chapter 160 by reaper13 reaper13

Why are people screaming?

A pack of wargs is attacking

When I look over, I see a pack of wargs has come out of the forest and started chasing after the villagers.

“Crap, we have to get over there.” Lilith says.

Suddenly, Lilith grows two large reptilian wings from her back and takes off. Wendy brandishes her spear and shield and starts running towards the pack of wargs. While she is running, she looks back at me and yells, “Darx, come on!”. Her words pull me out of my inactivity and I start running as well.

As I am running towards the monsters, I try out my new skill and make an [Ice Sword]. I have more than enough time to both give it a good shape and harden it. But I won’t rely on it. Once the [Ice Sword] is ready, I pull out my regular sword. I want to see how well it does with its new upgrades.

Lilith is the first to reach the wargs and wastes not time getting into combat with them. The unsheathes a sword and swoops over the ground, just close enough to the wargs that she can cut them with her sword. It works a few times, but then one of the wargs jumps up and tackles her to the ground. Wendy and I try to rush towards Lilith to save her from the warg attack, but there are too many between us and her. Damn it. If that warg manages to bite her throat, it won’t matter that she’s a B rank.

Wendy and I initiate combat against the closest wargs. One of the wargs tries to tackle Wendy the same way Lilith got tackled, but she quickly uses [Shield Bash] on it and then pierces its chest with [Fast Blade]. I have two wargs attacking me, prompting me to use [Dual Strike]. The skill makes the two wargs appear to move in slow motion for me, and I strike at one with both my normal sword and the [Ice Sword]. Yet, after those two slashes, the world is still moving in slow motion for me, so I strike at the other warg with both my swords as well. Only then do my surroundings move at normal speed again. Interesting. If I use [Dual Strike] while dual wielding, I get a [Dual Strike] for each sword.

Wendy and I get startled by not one but two versions of Lilith launching themselves from the ground and flying overhead. Thank the goddess, Lilith was able to free herself from the warg attack. I now have to worry less about her.

It probably would have been better if I did continue to worry about Lilith. With my mind less occupied by worry for Lilith, I can start thinking about my mother and Kase again. The story Amelia told me about him start playing over in my mind. Even as I am fighting the wargs, I am imagining Kase using the promise of knowledge as leverage to get Amelia to do sexual things she would much prefer not to do with him. Yes, eventually she ended up with me. But he was able to successfully break us up and make us not talk to each other for like 8 months. I can only imagine him trying the same to my mother. After all, I was there, 9 months ago, when he came to our village and trained under my mother. I heard him try to flirt with her, so I have no doubt he would be into seducing her as well. Maybe she is wounded and he is the only one who has a healing potion with him. It would be in his nature to make her show her boobs to him in exchange for a potion. My imagination starts becoming active and is showing me images of Kase pleasuring himself with my mother in many different positions. I know mom would never do any of this, but I am also certain Kase absolutely would. I am so convinced that Kase would have his way with my mother that my trust in my mom starts to deteriorate. What if she is drunk, or wounded? What if she is uncounscious? How long would it take for Kase to take advantage of her?

The longer I think of Kase and how disgusting he is, the angrier I become. I pull my lips back and bear my teeth. Then next time I attack a warg, I strike it with my ice sword. My swing is so powerful that the sword breaks. Whatever, it’s just ice. I can use my magic to make another. For the next warg, I scream as I swing my metal sword and outright cleave the creature in half. Simply killing these creatures doesn’t feel enough. I want to completely and utterly destroy them.

As I slip further into anger, the world around me seems to get darker, like thick clouds blocking out the sun. I let my anger guide me and rush towards the next warg. Except it doesn't look like a warg any more, but rather like a feral Kase. Finally! I get to kill this son of a bitch! I slash my sword and cut off his head with one strike. When I turn around, I see another two feral Kase's. As they attack me, I reach out my hand and shoot a blast of dark energy. The first feral Kase gets his arm blown off and with the second shot I make a hole in the other one. After killing those two, i see the rest of the pack run away. How dare these Kase's attempt to escape me! They deserve to die!! I will destroy them!!!

I shoot another two beams of dark energy until I hear a voice above me. I look up and see a Kase with dragonwings and tail above me. That Kase too, i shall see broken and bleeding before me. I aim my hand to him and shoot. I will kick Kase in his stupid face until it can never heal again. A sound coming from behind me makes me turn around and I see yet another Kase. Thos one wielding a spear. I reactively shoot at him as well, but my dark blast has no effect on him. The spear wielding Kase is left unharmed. No matter. I still have my sword. With it, I shall Kill him! Maim him!! Burn him!!!

I slash at Kase and he blocks my sword with his spear. Then he quickly grabs me by the wrist and all of a sudden my anger disappears in an instant. My surroundings light up and I check to see how the clouds have moved away from the sun so quickly, except what I see is a sky without clouds. And the Kase I previously saw in front of me is gone as well, replaced by Wendy.

“Darx!” I hear Wendy say.

I look at her and am confused. Where did she come from? Where did Kase go?

“What is going on?” Wendy asks. “You attacked Lilith!”

“Wha?” I ask confused and look around. I see Lilith on the ground, struggling to get up, with one of her wings practically blown off.

“Di-did I do that?” I ask as I feel the ground slowly becoming unstable under me and a headache starts to form.

“You don’t remember?” Wendy asks. “You were screaming and fired at me as well. What has gotten into you?”

The headache is quickly getting worse. My eyelids grow heavy and it is painful to keep my eyes open. I blink a few times, feeling better whenever my eyes are closed, but it keeps getting worse for me to stay balanced.

“I don’t … feel so good.” I say weakly.

The last thing I remember is me getting on my knees before everything goes dark.

What's next?
