Chapter 26

What's next?
A pack of mountain goblins
There was a pack of brown goblins brawling with a group of beastmen up ahead, adventurer maybe? Sven couldn't tell as the group were in constant motion as they repelled the waves of brown goblins that crashed down onto them from above and beside them. The goblins were wielding metal spikes they'd fashioned out of scavenged arrow points and broom handles, shields of just pure bark wrapped in twine for a better purchase, helms of unprocessed leather with little eye holes poked into them. Real basic stuff, what wasn't dangerous was their individual strength but rather their swarming collective **** that would often over-run the inexperienced adventurers and cause them to make fatal mistakes. Once one defender falls, the goblins won't give an inch and will use that momentum to chip away at any vulnerabilities until they win.
The group of beastmen up ahead seemed to be handling things just fine, but Sven wasn't about to leave them to fend for themselves - after all Elise would have jumped in to save them too.
"Cast fire enchant on my blade, don't use fireball unless you've got a clear shot." Ignis wreathed his Slyvian blade in flames, then as Sven approached the battle he activated the blades unique passive and went invisible, only reappearing with a vicious surprise critical against the entire back line of the assaulting goblins, who in their surprise turned to face Sven and abandoned their positions against the group of beastmen.
With the sudden distraction and the goblins subverted attention towards Sven, the beastmen were now managing to push back against the horde, between Sven and the beastmen flanking the group the tide of battle was beginning to speed up ever more in favor of the adventurers. However just when things were starting to wrap up, a goblin fell from the mountain slope above them and landed on top of a cat woman, pinning her to the floor as he hovered his spear above her in a killing blow. Her arms were pinned to her sides and all she could do was close her arms and wait for the inevitable. A few seconds pass but nothing happened, opening her eyes again she saw a long white blade pierced through its neck, pulling back Sven kicked the goblin off of her and then offered her a hand, which she took breathlessly.
Looking at his manly features and dashing white hair and red eyes her heart stopped for a moment before, like she was in a trace, she slowly reached out to grab his helping hand. Picking her up Sven looked around to see that the rest of the group were all but finished clearing out the remaining goblins, some cleaning their blades or bandaging wounds they'd received, others who were a bit more critical were drinking potions to close their cuts.
"Hail human friend, thank you for your assistance." A young orc male parted from the group to shake Sven's hand, he was equipped in plate armor and looked to be a knight primary class, although given his age and what little Sven had seen from him during the battle, he looked to be rather new to the class, no more than a level 15 Sven estimated. "I'm Goram, guild recruiter for the PikanVale adventuring & academics institution, although most people just call us PikanVale for short. What's you names, friends?" Goram now noticed Ignis walking towards the group, she couldn't find an opening to help out so she just stood in waiting.
"My name is Sven Gate, and this is my traveling companion-"
"Ignis Gate." Ignis entwined both arms in Sven's left, she didn't like the look this cat woman was giving Sven, it reminded her of Elise. Sven looked flustered but decided not to correct her, after all he didn't really know these people that well. The cat woman in question pricked her ears up at this display before she calmed herself and put a hand to her face to hide her smile.
"Oh what a lovely little sister you have there Sven, she's adorable!" Ignis fumed as she showed her ears.
"High elf! I'm older than you are you damn smelly milk drinker!" It was the unidentified cat lady's turn to fume now.
"Smelly?! Is that really something a little girl should be saying to an adult?!" The two were almost ready to throw down before the orc warrior came in between the two to mediate.
"Come now Alice, is that anyway to speak to someone you have bonded over battle with? Let's all just calm down and-"
"No one asked your opinion, Orc boy. The only man I want to hear from is master." Ignis stuck out her tongue, Sven sighed but Alice couldn't seem to refrain from laughing at the high elf's outburst, nor the Orc warriors shocked face at having been insulted and dismissed so casually.
"I apologize for my companions rudeness, you said you were from PikanVale didn't you?" The Orc straightened himself out and nodded. "Me and my companion here are looking to enroll, are you perhaps on your way to the guild now?" Sven produced the parchments from one of his pockets to show the Orc, he took them each in either hand and looked them over briefly before smiling.
"That is correct my friend, I'm on a recruitment drive to lead these fine new enlisting fledglings to join our guild." The Orc motioned to Alice and the others, now that Sven took them all in they were all beastmen of some sort. Mice folk, dog folk and cat folk, Sven Ignis and the Knight were the only Human, Elf and Orc among them. "If you like, we would be more than happy to escort you to the city of Pikanally where PikanVale is located?" The Orc offered.
"We'd like to take you up on that offer, thank you." Sven placed the papers back in his pocket once more, he thought it would be best not to show any more people he was a hero needlessly. After all, everyone else had reacted to it negatively straight away as soon as they found out.
"It's the least we can do, after all you practically saved my life!" Alice joined Ignis in weaving her arm underneath Sven's. Was it 'we' now, Goram wondered? This Alice girl was practically sold to the guild in order to pay for her families living costs and was completely against going up until now, and suddenly it's 'we'? He raised a brow but didn't say anything. Ignis however pressed her flat chest into Sven's arm as she competed for his attention.
"How exciting! I get to go to the academy with such a strapping young man!" Alice squeezed tighter causing Sven to gulp nervously. Damn he had absolutely no experience with this type of shit, as a sickly house bound teen his only female experience was virtual.
"It won't be so dull if I get to study with someone so handsome and strong~" Sven felt something wrapping around his inner thigh, looking down he noticed her tail was coiled round his leg and was giving him a slow, suggestive massage so close to his private area. Looking to face her she was giving him such a slutty, predatory look he thought she might jump his bones right then and there. Her vivid yellow eyes and elongated slit pupils piercing his own, her short brown hair barely containing her twitchy cat ears that faced his direction at all times.
"Keep your paws off of my master you cheap floozy!" Her hands began to burn slightly, Sven could almost smell the fabrics of both their cloths singeing slightly. Alice let go with an amused giggle.
"You're no fun~" She sang. "So you're into that kinky ****/master kind of stuff are you Sven? Hmmm maybe I could be your pet then?" She winked playfully at Sven, continuing her laugh as she watched embers ignite in the high elf's eyes.
"It seems you're quite the popular man, Sven Gate." Goram chuckled as the pair walked side by side, leaving Ignis to stalk Alice menacingly in the back. Sven wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing from where he was standing right about now. What he was concerned with right now was reaching PikanVale and finding out more about heroes and finally acquiring a class, of course.
