Chapter 3 by Yppah Yppah

What happens next?

A new character joins the story.

Stumbling through the street, a man shambled barely able to keep himself standing. Blood dripped from fresh wounds all across his torso and arms, leaving a sporadic trail behind him in his wake. The armor he wore, if it could even be considered armor anymore, had gashes ripped from it and was peppered with holes, many of them mirroring where wounds lay underneath. A homeless beggar looked up at the bedraggled man as he used a hand to keep him steady. He broke his gaze when the man looked down at the sitting beggar, a rough scowl painted on his face The wounded man finally made it to his destination, fumbling with a set of keys as he unlocked the door and managed to not trip on the door frame.

Hiro grunted unintelligible complaints as he threw his tattered pack aside. It was a miracle the thing was still in one piece considering the state of his other gear, though its useability was put into question. That was a later concern, however, as he had much more pressing concerns than a torn-up bag. Trudging over to the healing cabinet, Hiro grabbed a small green vial from a stand. The cork flew off to some dark corner of the room as he carelessly popped the vial open, downing the liquid like a shot in one gulp. His wounds started tingling and burning with the familiar sensation of magical healing, already feeling some of the shallower wounds closing up. Glancing at his empty potion belt, Hiro considered getting one with more capacity, as he seemed to go through the magic concoctions like water.

The dungeon kicked his ass…again. He did just fine on the first few floors, that was until he fell into an ambush. A whole host of skeletons shambled out of the ground, completely surrounding and trapping him in their bony embrace. It was only thanks to his high vitality did Hiro even make it out of the endeavor alive, though not without his share of wounds. This event wasn’t the first of its kind, seemingly being an inevitability whenever Hiro dared brave the dungeon. He would always do fine at the start, spectacular even. But something would always go wrong, an ambush, drawing too many at once, a large damn monster that refused to die. It was always something. Something needed to change, or he might just go insane.
