Demi-Human Servants

Demi-Human Servants

Ectera: A world where half human/animal hybrids fulfill any and all of their masters requests.

Chapter 1 by Yppah Yppah

In the mystical realm of Ectera, where magic intertwines with reality, demi-humans roam freely. These beings, born of both human and animal lineage, possess unique traits that reflect their dual heritage. From the bustling city streets to the remote forests, Ectera is a tapestry of diversity, where the boundaries between species blur.

The Demi-Humans:

These demi-humans live everywhere from large metropolises to small shanty towns not found on any map, living happily alongside their human masters. Some Demi's though, either choose or are born into the untamed path. They live in harmony with nature, embracing their animal instincts. Ferals, as they are known, form secret communities, resisting the auction houses and the chains of servitude. Their loyalty lies with the wilderness, where moonlight bathes their fur and freedom sings through rustling leaves. It takes a larger effort to subdue such wild beings, but the bonds of the Demi's run deep, and many are unable to escape them fully. A majority of demi-humans fall into 5 main categories; Avians, Nekojin, Canines, Equinoids, and Reptilians. The races are described as follows:

1) Avians: With feathered wings sprouting from their shoulder blades, avians soar through the skies. Their keen eyesight allows them to spot distant objects, making them invaluable messengers and scouts. Avians are often found in the service of nobles, delivering secret missives or guarding their estates from above.

2) Nekojin: Nekojin, part feline and part human, exhibit grace and agility. Their retractable claws can slice through armor, and their night vision aids them in stealthy pursuits. Nekojin serve as skilled assassins, bodyguards, and entertainers, captivating audiences with their acrobatics and mesmerizing dances.

3) Canines: Canines, resembling anthropomorphic wolves or dogs, are fiercely loyal. Their heightened senses of smell and hearing make them exceptional trackers. They willingly accompany their masters on hunts, safeguarding them against both mundane and magical threats.

4) Equinoids: Equinoids, with hooves and horse-like features, excel in labor and transportation. Their endurance allows them to pull heavy carriages or plow fields tirelessly. They are often seen in the employ of merchants, pulling wagons laden with goods across Ectera’s vast trade routes.

5) Reptilians: Reptilians, part serpent and part human, possess scales, forked tongues, and a natural affinity for magic. Their hypnotic gaze can sway minds, and they serve as advisors to powerful sorcerers and rulers. Serpentians are prized for their wisdom and cunning.

The Auctions:

In Ectera’s opulent auction houses, wealthy scions gather to bid on demi-humans. These auctions are both spectacle and tradition---a chance for the elite to acquire loyal servants, companions, or exotic curiosities. Demi-humans willingly participate, their subservient nature ingrained over generations.

---The Bidding: As the auctioneer’s gavel falls, fortunes change hands. Noble families vie for the most exquisite specimens---the avian with iridescent plumage, the nekojin with emerald eyes, the reptilian with ancient secrets. The highest bidder claims ownership, and the demi-human bows, ready to fulfill their new master’s desires.

---The Bond: Once purchased, a bond forms between master and demi-human. It transcends mere servitude; it becomes devotion. Demi-humans anticipate their master’s needs, whether it’s brewing potions, guarding estates, or providing companionship. Their loyalty knows no bounds.

---The Dark Side: Yet, beneath the glittering façade lies a darker truth. Some masters **** their power, demanding unspeakable tasks. Demi-humans endure silently, their animal instincts suppressed. Rebellion simmers, whispers of revolution echoing through hidden tunnels and moonlit forests.
