A month at war

We participated in many battles in the coming month. Being apart of sneak attacks and full scale battles, we had many close calls but came out on top. I had started to get a reputation, gaining respect of Dusker and the Saranian knights and their commander. I was seen as a secret weapon. The minotaur, now I found out his name is Knull. He was seen as the battering ram, just point and he would charge. Still, Knull came to be an intricate factor of brute **** to be used on the battlefield. He gained a reputation for this. I had more strategic knowledge to lend to the war, and came up with plans to aid in victory. Organising tactics where Sarania gained the upper hand in a lot of skirmishes, making it so we gained a lot of ground and strategic outposts and advantage spots. We were slowly winning the war without king Harold needing to use the bulk of his army.

“What about here?” Said knight Sawyer, pointing at a location on a map.

“It will be easy to take over, but I can’t see the tactical advantage of it. Besides we might waste resources claiming it.” Dusker explained. They were discuss the next best course of action, Sawyer had been noted of a small fort houses by the enemy. Sawyer talked Dusker about if it was a good place to claim. Dusker knew the area better than Sawyer, so his advice was greatly appreciated.

“I see, what about here?” Sawyer pointed at another location in the map.

“That, would be more advantageous. It’s a larger structure, a bit more difficult to take. But we could use it in turn, and when they came to reclaim it. We could posistion camps here to meet them.” Dusker pointed at an area near where Sawyer had pointed at. I looked at the map as a whole, and saw something that I needed clarification on.

“What’s this area?” I pointed at south of the map, it was coloured in a dark brown sketching.

“That’s swamp lands. They wouldn’t come through there.” Dusker answered.

I thought of my encounter with the troll and how difficult it was to maneuverer in.

“What if, we take the fortress. And instead of erecting war camps. House the fort, and use our water supplies to make the area here,” I pointed near the fortress on the map. “Into a new swampland. They would avoid the original swampland and unknowingly walk into the new one that we’ve made.”

I explained in more detail. Our forces take the fort, the enemy knowing of the structural advantage of it, will make them want to reclaim it. Instead or reorganising the defences or positioning war camps near the fortress. We make the surrounding area into boggy lands. The enemy will march to the fortress to take the fort back. Not knowing that they will march into new swamplands, and walking into their ****.

Both Dusker and Sawyer nodded seeing my point.

“This could work. I see the idea. Lead them into weak footholds, get them stuck in swamplands. Limit their movement and we could pick them off from a distance.” Said Sawyer.

“They’re more likely to try and reclaim the fort if they see we haven’t fully defended it.” Said Dusker.

“Give them a false sense of security. Then kill them before they can have the chance to runaway. Which they’ll find difficult.” I chuckled.

“We’ll try this tactic. If it works, we’ll keep a good grip on this area. And also, you’ll be rewarded Fen.”
