A modern gentleman needs to be prepared.

As the breakfast dishes were cleared away Michs Father, Kemeyo, and Chelcy all got up to get ready for the big day and Katreen chased the brood of children to get upstairs and get dressed. The giantess of an Amazon was actually the housewife of the family and the one who kept chaos at bay in the large house.

Returning to his room Michael laid out his graduation robe and hat then quickly went through his clothes to find something suitable to wear under that would also be appropriate for a party afterwards. He finally settled on a button-down shirt, relaxed slacks, and light boots. Over the shirt he added a light armor dress vest and a set of forearm bracers. The mast of his regular wear was a stout leather belt with his spell pistol and fochi blade on either hip. Over it all went his graduation costume. He honestly would have felt more naked leaving the house without his belt than without the rest of his clothes. While most of the worlds dangers had been pushed back, there was always the possibility of something sneaking in.

He remembered a couple weeks ago when he had needed to get Julia’s help in the back yard. Somehow a strangler vine had gotten into the family garden. The blasted things were harder to get rid of then dandelions and looked almost like decorative ivy until it tried to wring your neck. The plant monster would have likely gotten him if his mana sense hadn’t pinged to it. Though once identified Julia had been able to restrain the vicious weed by the expedient method of letting it grab her arms the pulling until the plant was stretched tight. Mich had then been able to get close enough to scan the entirety or the roots and flash burn the ensuring there would be no surprise return of the carnivorous vine. Though the berries and root tubers had made an excellent addition to that evening’s dinner.

Mich was jerked out of his contemplation by a thunderous knock on his door. “Come on bro let’s get a move on we need to get to school in time to find our spots” yelled Ellen. “I’m coming” Mitch walked over to the door and opened it in time to see his sister rushing down the stairs. Shaking his head he followed after, he had mostly good feelings about this day. So much of his future lay ahead of him. Yet it was always bittersweet closing a chapter of his life.
