Chapter 3 by hexall hexall

What's next?

A day at school

Sarah drops you off at school and then leaves to get to her college classes. You are quickly joined by your group of friends, all lilliputians. The school building is absolutely colossal, dwarfing even the gulliverian skyscrapers you saw in your home town. Of course, it is that way because it is a truly mixed school, where lilliputians, gulliverians, and brobdingnagians all learn together, to build "a better future for all humans" as their principal constantly reminds then at every school meeting. You wonder if she truly believes her own words: She is a brobdingnagian, she really does not have a lot to worry about, better future or not.

The school entrance is witness to the usual human river of students. The school has raised platforms with moving walkways on the sides of the main corridors, so that the smaller students are safe from accidents, and they can keep pace with the bigger ones. A few bridges going over the brobbis' heads allow lilliputians to cross over, while gulliverians make use of crosswalks in the brobdingnagian lane. From your point of view, navigating the school is pretty breathtaking, seeing all of these colossal beings causally moving around the weight of buildings or even mountains. You got used to their presence, you no longer shriek in terror at the sight of one, but the feeling of insignificance and helplessness will probably never go away.

You have been going to that school for a few months now, and you had no particularly negative interaction with the giants, but plenty of humiliating little things, like bumping you off your feet, walking over you, sweat and water droplets drenching you, and more. You are getting used to those as well, but it is a much slower process.

You reach your class and take a seat. Behind your desk, you can hear the gulliverians and their booming voices seating down, and behind them still the brobdingnagians. The class has a downward slope, starting from the teacher's desk, so that all three sizes are looking at the teacher from more or less the same height.

What subject do you have today?
