Chapter 174 by Jpyric Jpyric

The rest of the evening is full of teasing, laughter, and love.

A classic date

The next day at work, you’re a bit distracted, as you think about your plans with Ellie in the evening. You come to realize that you’ve never taken her out for a date with just the two of you! It’s always been her and Mazzy, or a big group outing. You feel bad, having never given her a night all her own, even though you know that she doesn’t mind. Fortunately, you plan to give the goblin girl a classic date night; dinner and a movie.

That evening, you listen to the girls chattering in the living room as you wait for Ellie to get ready. They’re clearly as excited about this as you are, and you see a lot of whispers and glances your way, followed by laughter. Before you can question their amusement, however, Ellie comes out, ready for the date.

Already blushing, Ellie walks towards you with a nervous smile on her face. She’s dressed much more simply than Mazzy was, wearing a brightly patterned sundress and a pair of white sandals. With her blue hair hanging loose, she simply radiates innocence and happiness, and it’s all you can do to stop yourself from scooping her up into a big hug.

Instead, you smile and take her hand. “Are you ready? The movie will start fairly soon, we should get going.”

Ellie nods, smiling up at you. “Y-yes, let’s g-go.”

The two of you wave to the other girls, who cheer and laugh as you head out to the car. As you drive to the movie theater, you glance over at Ellie, seeing she hasn’t stopped smiling. Seeing her pure happiness warms your heart, and you make a mental note to be sure to take her out more often.

Once you arrive, you walk hand in hand up to the ticket counter. You brace yourself for whatever reaction Ellie gets in public, but to your relief the bored teenager behind the counter seems completely indifferent. You simply buy your tickets and head inside, stopping to buy a tub of popcorn. Ellie giggles at the size of the snack, as it’s larger than her whole head.

When you get into the theater, Ellie gasps. “I-it’s so big!”

You chuckle, leading her towards a seat. You realize that she’s never really seen a screen larger than a television, so this will be quite the experience for her, despite the relatively tame movie you’ve picked. Soon, the lights dim, and Ellie snuggles closer as the previews begin.

The movie a fairly simple romantic comedy, and Ellie is clearly enjoying herself, laughing and smiling. She clasps your hand in both of hers, uninterested in the popcorn, which sits abandoned on the floor. The movie is nothing special, at least for you, but seeing how happy Ellie is makes it worthwhile.

Afterwards, as you’re getting ready to leave for the restaurant, Ellie leans over and kisses you. “No m-matter what, I’m having s-so much f-fun, Brian!”

You smile at her. “I’m glad, Ellie. I am too, we should do this more often.”

Ellie nods excitedly as you pull into the restaurant parking lot. It’s a simple family dining place, but it’s quiet and has a reputation at the AWIO for being accepting of monster girls. Sure enough, when you and Ellie walk in, you’re greeted with nothing but smiles for both of you. You’re soon seated at an out of the way table, just as you had requested ahead of time.

Ellie is still radiating happiness, though she’s a bit quiet, being out in public. Her shyness never truly vanished, though she can be very open with you and the girls. She manages to stammer her way through her order, blushing adorably the whole time. The waitress gives you an amused glance afterward, and heads off to get your food.

Ellie giggles a bit now that the two of you are alone again. “S-sorry about that. I’m still a b-bit nervous in front of other p-people.”

You smile and shake your head. “No need to apologize, Ellie. I just want you to have a good time.”

She looks at you with wide, lavender eyes. “O-oh I am! This is a-amazing!”

You laugh, reaching across the table to pat her hand. “Good. I know it’s kind of simple, but…”

Ellie shakes her head. “N-no, it’s perfect! I l-love this!”

She’s about to say more, but just then the food arrives. The waitress lays out the plates, then smiles at you both. “Can I just say, the two of you are adorable together?”

You laugh. “Thank you very much!”

She nods. “Oh, and you have that special order, correct, sir? When would you like that brought out?”

You smile. “When we finish dinner would be perfect.”

The waitress smiles and nods, then walks off. Ellie looks at you curiously, but doesn’t ask anything. You simply grin and begin eating, and she shrugs and does the same. It’s good food, if simple, but there’s a charm to that. You and Ellie discuss the movie as you eat, and you end up promising to bring her to another one soon.

As you finish your meals, and the plates are taken away, the waitress brings out another, covered tray, setting it in front of Ellie. Flashing you a smile, she retreats, and leaves the two of you alone. Ellie cautiously pulls the cover off, and then gasps. On the tray is an open box, containing a ring. Like Mazzy’s, it’s fairly simple, a gold band inset with tiny emeralds, with a diamond in the center.

You reach across and gently take her hand. “Ellie, I love you, and I always want you to be happy. Will you take this ring and share my life, forever?”

Choked up beyond words, Ellie simply nods, and you slip the ring onto her finger. She stares at it for a moment, a wide smile on her face, before jumping out of her chair and running over to you. You hug the happily crying goblin, and she clings to you tightly. After a while, she whispers in your ear.

“It’s t-time to go home, Brian…”
