Big words, small goblin

The drive home is quiet, although you glance over occasionally to find Ellie looking at the ring on her finger and sighing, a smile on her face. The pure happiness she shows makes you feel like you’re floating, and you arrive home having barely noticed the trip. The two of you hold hands as you walk to the door, sharing your emotions without words.

Before you can head inside, however, Ellie stops you. You look at her curiously, and she fidgets nervously a moment before she speaks.

“I w-want to say something before we head in. Y-you know, while it’s still just us.”

You nod. “Go ahead, Ellie.”

She looks up at you, her eyes sparkling in the moonlight. “When I first came to the n-new world, I was scared and a-alone. I made friends w-with Mazzy, and we promised to look out for each other.”

You smile. “I remember.”

The goblin sighs. “When she…when y-you and her met, I n-never thought I’d see h-her again. Nobody could ever c-care about a pathetic little g-goblin like me, I thought.”

You start to argue, but she cuts you off, her voice growing more confident. “I was wrong. Oh m-my, how I was wrong. When Mazzy introduced m-me to you, I was so s-scared. But…”

She smiles up at you again. “But I’ve n-never been happier in my life than I h-have been with you. Thank you. Forever.”

With that, she steps forward and embraces you. You return the hug, bending down to do so properly. You can feel her tears making your shoulder wet, and she squeezes you as tight as she can.

After holding her a while, she composes herself, and then giggles. “We should g-go in. I’m sure the other girls are w-waiting. And Mazzy has p-plans!”

You laugh, straightening and taking her hand again. “Well, let’s head in, then.”

Sure enough, everyone is waiting in the living room once again, and Ellie is practically dragged in to show off her ring. There’s cheers and excitement, and smiles all around. Soon though, you see Mazzy eying you, as Ellie predicted. She puts an arm around the goblin’s waist, and whispers in her ear. Ellie giggles and nods, and the two of them approach you.

You take a moment to watch them, and smile at their approach. They’re so different, despite their shared diminutive size, and their differences are more obvious when they’re side by side. Mazzy is pale and dark haired, with curves that border on the ridiculous. Meanwhile Ellie is a vibrant green with bright blue hair, and far more petite, though her hips and butt are similarly eye catching. Both have long pointed ears, and both are smiling as you look them up and down.

Despite their differences, however, the pair are practically sisters, the bond between them only rivaled by their bond to you. After a moment, Mazzy winks at you, and says the words that blank out all reason from your mind.
