Chapter 13 by 69Sage96 69Sage96

What's next?

A bit of shopping

The five of you climbed in your new carriage and set off. You headed deeper into the King’s District, where your map showed a store that sold high-quality armors and weaponry.

When you arrived, the carriage stopped and announced you were there.

“Ooh, fancy,” Victor said happily, before you all stepped out and headed into a mutli-leveled store.

The first floor was a neatly organized room filled with deadly looking weapons. The five of you immediately walked around, staring in awe. This store really had every kind of weapon imaginable. You saw Bows, Daggers, Spears, Scythes, whips, staffs, and many different styled swords. You considered picking something up for yourself, but you already had your own sword. Plus, you didn’t actually need anything since you didn’t plan on fighting, but still… you thought they were cool.

After a few moments of looking, a worker came over to offer his help.

“Welcome gentlemen! Please, take your time looking around. If you are interested, you can reach the second and third floor where the armor is by taking the stairs over there. If you have any questions, please let me know.”

You said your thanks and continued browsing.

Over the next couple of hours, your companions took full advantage of his offer, asking details about pretty much every item in the store. Eventually though, they all seemed to settle on their equipment. Everyone got a weapon except for Remus, who was already happy with his current staff. Galen found himself a massive silver double-edged great axe that gave constantly glowed blue with some sort of magical energy. Vulas picked up a terrifying-looking black bow that shot arrows created from the user’s mana, along with a poisonous black dagger that didn’t seem to reflect light. Victor had found himself the most expensive sword in the entire sword, made from pure gold and covered in gems.

Galen took one look at it and picked him something else.

Victor ended up with a leaf-bladed long sword that could be used one or two-handed. Though, it did end up having a few magic gems in it.

The four of them also all got magical armor and some other clothes meant for traveling, all in all, it cost a small fortune, but you could cover it.

It was getting pretty late by the time they left, but they were still able to find a store selling runes, potions, and magical tools.

All of the A-ranked runes were in a display case at the entrance of the store. It didn’t take long for everyone to find what they wanted. Galen got an earth rune. Vulas found a shadow rune that would synergize with his racial trait. Victor bought a speed rune and Remus went with an enchantment rune to buff his allies.

After selecting their runes, they searched for potions that would help them out while you purchased a couple things you were eyeing. A tentacle rune and a ton of those vials Celia showed you. The shopkeeper wouldn’t meet your eyes as you checked out.

After shopping, your party headed back to your estate, and the five of you headed inside.

“This place is amazing!” said victor who always had his head turned up, staring at the high ceilings.

Remus and Galen, on the other hand, wouldn’t stop telling you how thankful they were for buying their equipment. It really was a good investment for you. You already had some ideas brewing about how you could use their loyalty in the future.

The five of you went into your dining room, where you summoned Lexi.

After chatting for a bit, Mia, Sydney and Hailey served you some food, which the group enjoyed before talking.

“So when do you want to head out?” you asked.

“Tomorrow, if we can find transportation. Where’s this dungeon at anyway?” Remus asked.

“It’s southwest of here, near a small town called Draycott,” Lexi said as she marked their maps. “You should be able to camp safely outside the dungeon if you close your tunnel behind you. The area is relatively clear of monsters. Probably because they can sense the hoards of undead skeletons living below the area.”

“So we’ll be fighting skeletons then? That should work really well for us. With Remus having a light rune.” Said Vulas.

“Just make sure to be careful, I doubt it, but it’s possible for a Lich to exist down there. Usually, the skeletons would be aggressive under the rule of a Lich, so it should be fine, but look out for one anyway.” Lexi said.

The four of them nodded.

You pulled a bag of gold out of your inventory and handed it to them.

“Here. This is to buy transportation and whatever other supplies you need. Buy as much food as you can before heading out and try not to go into Draycott unless you have to. If people keep seeing adventurers come into resupply, someone might get nosy and follow you. From the sounds of it, you want to keep the dungeon a secret.”

“That’s true. There are a few other towns around Draycott, so maybe we can cycle through them if we need extra supplies,” said Vulas.

“Also make sure to update me every so often so I know how you’re doing.”

“Anything else we’re forgetting?”

Everyone shook their heads.

“Alright, you guys can just sleep in the guest rooms upstairs for the night if you’d like.”

“From the slums to a luxurious room, then back out to camping. I like it,” said Victor.

All of you chatted for a while before heading to bed. The four of them would be getting up early and leaving as soon as they could, so you said your goodbyes tonight.
