A Terrible Fall!

Alice felt she was spending far too long with a pregnant woman and seeing all the imperfections that condition inflicted on a woman. (The teen knew she had body-issues.) She looked at the clock again to seeing if it was close enough to school starting for Tomoguchi to let her go.

She finally noticed the calendar beneath the wall clock. The month was September. September!(?) Less than an hour ago Alice Delaney time, when she had stepped into her magic circle and used the translocation spell, it had been January 23rd! She had time traveled!! She was back to the time she had taken the photograph she had used to get to school!

The impossible now possible meant that anything could happen! Nothing was safely sure!

The now dazed Alice needed some metaphorical solid ground to stand on! Magic was big on metaphors. She could make herself seem even more stupid to her teach and ask her, or she could see where any notes written on the calendar page left off and figure out.... The 22nd was printed in red. The equinox of last year. Her research on magic had said that equinoxes and solstices and the days exactly between them made magic more powerful!

That's right, now she remembered! She had played hooky that day and gone around town and taken pictures of people, places and things she might want to cast a spell on. She had even downloaded images from the internet.

Wait! If she did, would she meet herself?(!) Can she exist in two places at the same time?(!) What would happen when they met?(!) Would they cancel each other out?! Would...

And, so, her anxiety grew.
