Chapter 2
by TheUnfathomable
What do you see looking back at you?
A Skeleton of the Sands (TheUnfathomable)
Act 1: Reawakening
You see... well, not much. You clearly used to be a lizardman at some point, as your skull almost looks like a dinosaur fossil. Your bones are clearly sun-bleached, probably having been within the dessert for decades now. You have no form of equipment, not even tattered clothing like some of your fellow low rank undead have. Sand lingers in-between your joints, giving one of your only feelings being a grinding as you move. You hold your hands before your eye(socket)s, seeing that as you expected, they end in claws.
As you backup from the water, you feel a little stupid as the water drips off of your jawbones. Why did these updates always have to make your memories so foggy? It was extremely embarrassing to forget you were an undead, let alone one without any way of drinking. You gestured a curse towards the gods of this world, angered again at the reminder you could not speak.
You tried to remember what your abilities entailed, however there was annoyingly little things to go over. As a skeleton you were of course immune to poisons and didn't need to eat, but there had to be more. You could remember that you were unique somehow, but not quite how you were. On the other side, being a skeleton gave you a weakness to being crushed (for some reason, you never did understand that one, but it seemed universal), and since you couldn't smell or taste, you missed out on a lot of good things.
A stray wind from the outside coating you in stray sand make you reconsider if there was anything worth smelling or tasting around. With a dejected slouch, you went through a few possible commands until you found the Character Sheet.

Skeletal Tolerance - You have a 100% resistance to all forms of poisons, a 75% resistance to blood magic, and an immunity to all forms of exhaustion and tiring. However, you also have a 75% vulnerability to holy damage, and a 50% vulnerability to smashing damage.
Monstrous Appearance – When attempting to use Appearance in a positive way on creatures without the Monster subtype, count it at 20 points lower until the target gets used to you. When attempting to use Appearance in a negative way on creatures without the Monster subtype, count it as 20 points higher until the target gets used to you.
Natural Weapons – You are in possession of a set of Natural Weapons. You are immune to Disarm attacks targeting these weapons. However, crippling effects have a chance to disarm you instead.
Wisdom of the Ages – Gain a constant, passive buff to your intelligence based on the time since your last ****.
Eyes of Horus - Your vision cannot be obstructed by weather and cannot be affected by charms.
You roll your head to imitate a groan. Looking at your stats had always made you confused. Why did they give you high stats in things you couldn't use them in? Why make one of your highest skills Occult if you had no form of spells? At least you had this new Crafting (Stoneworking) skill, perhaps that could help you somehow.
You picked yourself up, deciding to try and do something. It didn't matter if you were going to die again, you couldn't just sit still, as that would be worse. As you got up, you looked around the cave your spawn point was within, taking stock of your surroundings.
There was of course the "pool" of water, being a sourceless deep puddle that was entrenched into the sandstone. Probably there due to erosion, though you still couldn't figure out where the water came from. You shrugged, it wasn't important right now, but pondering it could become your pastime of the day, as it had been many days.
As you took one last look around your makeshift homebase, your eyes settled on something very interesting.
What is it?
