A (brief) Vampire Civil War [3]

[Jessica's POV]

Jessica punches at Jade but misses, and stumbles forward. With a clean sweep of her leg, Jade knocks Jessica onto her stomach. It's a still night, and Jessica thinks that she hears Elizabeth laughing.

Turning her head, she sees Jade decking Mary. Mary's forearms are up defensively, but she can't stop the blows. Mary keeps stepping back as Jade advances. She doesn't have long Jessica thinks. At least we tried.

"Carmilla didn't even put up a fight" Jade taunts callously. "Once she found out that I ripped her companion limb from limb, that is. Her heart just wasn't in it. I wonder if your head will come off as easily, Mary."

There is a rustle of wind, and Jessica sees a blur run between Jade and Mary. Jade flies backward, hitting a tree hard and slinking to the ground. The blur stops. It's Catherine.

"Catherine!" Jessica says excitedly, climbing to her feet. "Miko?" Jessica asks.

"I killed Miko" Catherine answers nonchalantly, as she advances on Jade. Mary, clearly in need of the respite, looks on. "Jade's old, but I'm older" Catherine says confidently.

Jade leaps to her feet, but Catherine is quicker. Catherine tackles Jade mid-torso, throwing Jade onto her back. Catherine's a huge bitch, but goddamn Jessica thinks, impressed. Jade weakly defends herself as Catherine rains blow after blow onto her face. Jade spits blood, her face a swollen mess. Jessica shudders when she sees the wide grin plastered on Catherine's blood-spattered face. She's loving this Jessica thinks. Jessica and Mary look on, recovering a bit, as Catherine wails on Jade.

Fuck! Suddenly, Jessica remembers Elizabeth. Jessica looks back at the car. The human driver's body hangs limply out of the front seat, his throat torn out.

"Catherine! Elizabeth... she's gone!" Jessica screams.
