5. An animal of the forest

As Lygia opens her eyes, she hears something hissing nearby.

Lygia immediately jumps to her feet and stabs in the direction of the sound.

[Lygia: 22 vs Snake: 22. Chance to block: 16. Damage: 2.]

Lygia’s dagger connects with the head of a giant snake. It pulls back, dragging the dagger down the center of its face. It hisses angrily and rears back before diving forward with its mouth open.

[Snake: 4 vs Lygia: 15.]

Lygia stumbles back and avoids the snake. It’s clearly disoriented from the blood streaming into its eyes. Lygia stabs again, trying to sever the head from the massive snake’s spinal cord.

[Lygia: 23 vs Snake: 11. Chance to block: 3 (critical failure). Damage: 4]

Lygia successfully stabs down. The dagger connects exactly where she wants it to. The giant constrictor snake spasms and then falls to the ground, dead.

Lygia shakes her head and looks at the corpse of the snake in front of her. Her belly rumbles, and she realizes she hasn’t eaten. While snake meat isn’t the most appetizing, it certainly is food.
