Chapter 3 by 4og8zzjkc 4og8zzjkc

Contestant Number 1?

(Show-Runner's Notes) Progress Reports

7 Feb 26

So, I'm starting up a second season. Hopefully, it is better received than last time. I learned some lessons and am planning on making all new mistakes. Like last time, I want to submit these (generally short) progress reports. I like to think that it helps readers see that a branch hasn't died on the vine, as it were.

Unlike last time, I'm not going to just dump 12 chapters at once, for a couple of reasons. For one, I probably only have 12 chapters total written at this point. For two, I want to try to drip them out. So, this first batch of chapters is going to be 7 chapters (one a day, starting yesterday), plus a key side thing. I stole the idea from Gambio (with permission; citation in the actual side thing), but I am trying the audience participation point thing. Check it out. You got until Friday to earn the super easy points.

So, this season is NOT a slow burn MtF themed thing. No sneaky twist reveal. It's still a sequel and still going to have some trope subversions (because that's how I roll). Hopefully, you like it. Let's see what new nonsense I come up with. Enjoy.

13 Feb

So, this is a more normal publication push. Not completely normal, but more normal.

Three chapters (rules! TFs! Tour!), and a side thing (The Round Zero vote page). Depending on how things go, I may do an emergency push Tuesday night; this will mostly be a decision to give me space to deal with ties (I hope there is no ties; tied in the TFs this round are going to be messy). I have 5 chapters pre-written in the bank, so, I might release a few on Tuesday just to get to revealing poll results sooner. We'll see.

In addition, I posted a requested side thing to the first chapter. Since this is a sequel and an alternative history original world setting, I made a brief primer of reveled bits of the original world setting for easy digestion. Further details can be provided with enough demand. I'm sure I'll be revealing more tidbits as they are produced and become relevant.

Also, as you have requests, I will listen.

Enjoy!

20 Feb

And this is probably a normal publication push. Three chapters, which wrap up Day Zero, plus a side thing which starts to explain the mechanics for the more skill-check and combat-y scenes, when I start really working them in.

I did have a need to push out something for Tuesday (the rest of the tour), to give me a chance to fire out a brief side thing. I compulsively don't like to publish a side thing on the last chapter in the push (trauma from being a dirty bookmarker meaning I mess up sometimes). I bet one of the questions I asked in the side thing may make some sense now. Feedback there will still be open, if you wish to contribute.

Enjoy my nonsense.

27 Feb

Next push made: the super excited TF results chapters.

I am likely to have a Tuesday push of the rest of Day 1's daytime chapters, as I have a side thing scheduled in my head for then. I am also going to hopefully get the Character TF page done by then. It should be fun (and lead to some chaos). In other news, I started working on the wiki entries for this branch. Check it the season page here to track my progress.

Thanks for reading!

6 Mar

An experiment, as I totally launched the side thing early in the morning on Tuesday and was distracted that night on other things. I'm curious if the actual main line chapter will now appear above the side thing. So, I pushed the 3 chapters of the rest of daytime Day 1 out, plus an additional side thing (the Character TF page). We'll see how far I get through the wiki updates over the weekend.

First date next week.

Oh, and I just remembered, I am doing dice rolls for all of the training sessions. I will tend to only publish a dice roll page once an in-day game, first one for next week. I'll explain the details of the "attend training session" move then.

13 Mar

So, first date night hits. 4 chapters (with a collab) and a side thing, which explains the training dice rolls that I did/am doing. I won't be publishing dice roll trackers EVERY publication push, but they are a semi-regular thing. This weekend, I am going to start getting contestant pages up on the wiki and maybe some staff members not from the first season.

I also got another couple of side things on another story, if you know what I mean. Daphne has been busy during her (technically future [as in, it's in my rough draft chapters]) free time.

Nice to get back into what feels like the swing of things. It you're curious, the big file is currently 154 pages and about 76,500 words.

20 Mar

Latest push just published. 4 chapters, no side things. I'll do the dice thing and publish most of the contestant class sheets over the evening chapters. Also, I have all of the contestants wiki pages posted (if you noticed, I added hyperlinks to the character sheet over last weekend), where you will soon be able to see the contestant's class info (for the four currently leveled by today's publication push). Goal is to keep the wiki pages updated (as it's a lot less effort updating those pages than republishing them here).

Enjoy!

27 Mar

Latest push just published. 4 chapters, plus the dice roll side thing for the day and a link to the first dumb Daphne side project (not sure how many of them will actually get a link in the actual storyline). Gaia date tonight. About to go update the wiki. Wheee! Spent a bunch of time working ahead on a couple of things. So, stay tuned for extra shenanigans and side things coming up.

Thanks for reading!

3 Apr

A bit of a strange push this time. 2 chapters in the main line, and a big 3 chapter side thing. I have a collab scheduled and I am waiting to fire off the rest of usual main line chapters for Day 3 Daytime once the other branch is ready.

In the meantime, thanks to XarHD for the return of the XarHD fan-mail replies! The ones in the main branch will have an impact on the story, but there are some tidbits among the personal pen pal messages. Enjoy!

10 Apr

Another strange push is going to happen. 2 chapters yesterday. Just 2 chapters nowish. I need to hold off on Tegan's date night until AEBE300 gets the Cammy/Felix date on his branch ready for dinner. Hopefully, that happens by next Friday, but I'll fire out the date chapters as soon as I can.

In the meantime, go check out Felix's branch and see the fun we've been working on!

17 Apr

Collab successfully completed, I am finally back to my regular schedule. Daytime of Day 4 is now up. 4 chapters.

Also, I am turning on the Fan-Mail spigots (maybe this time, I will get some!). Reminders: Fan-Mail pays out 100 BP, minus whatever value I give to any presents (if a present would be useful and not just fun, I'll shave off a bit). If you run the gamut of Mona and the contestants, you get a coupon. The coupon is better if you add Tyalangan to the mix. Submit via the in-game messaging system. I recommend typing it out in a word processor, then copy/paste it in the message for ease of construction. You should have a month?

Thanks for continuing on with my nonsense!

24 Apr

Next publication push fired off. 4 chapters, plus the dice roll side thing.

I also got to learn something about the site this week, as I accidentally published a draft last night! In case you are interested, I generally prep the formatting of chapters the night before publication, then give them 2 or 3 edit passes throughout the date of publication in an attempt to catch all of the grammar boo-boos. It's somewhat successful.

Well, I accidentally clicked publish instead of save draft. I deleted the chapter as soon as I could (as it was still a draft, and also the second chapter in the publication block). So, here is what I learned:

  • You can't unpublish a chapter; you have to delete it.
  • You can't delete a chapter when there are branches off of it.
  • When you delete a chapter, it doesn't delete the notifications sent out from the system. So, readers can still read the deleted chapter. Kind of defeats the purpose of deleting chapters...
  • When a reader gets to a deleted chapter, they can use the previous chapter button to read the unpublished draft of the previous chapter.

That was fun. Learn from my mistakes!

1 May

Next batch of chapters fired off. A little shorter overall than the usual push, this time because I kind of ran out of stuff for the day...

There is a side thing this time: the first vote for the challenge. I'm trying something a little weird (and, frankly, trying something weird for the challenge in general). Give it a look.

8 May

Next batch of chapters about to be pushed. 4 main-line chapters and the dice thing (this one placed at the end of the afternoon chapters, as I didn't have an rolls for the evening date). The date is hopefully interesting. XarHD came up with the Museum of Pleasures Past as a site for a challenge and gave branch writers permission to use it. This felt like a good use for it. Hopefully I didn't screw it up all that much!

Not a lot of votes for the challenge escort thing, but that's okay. I have my internal stuff converted for the winner already, and will take second place through the same process for something before the challenge.

Next week, fan-mail!

15 May

Next batch of chapters will be pushed relatively shortly. 5 main-line chapters. You get extra because of fan-mail. And, if you didn't think I wrote enough of my publication material, I also have a 30 page document of reply letters to distribute after I get publication done (granted, one letter was delivered way early, but that was for the branch writer's benefit for that branch's stuff).

Challenge 1 in a couple of weeks! Stay tuned!

22 May

Next batch of chapters just awaiting me to hit the publish button. 4 main-line chapters, plus 3 side things. The last batch of main-line chapters before the challenge start next week.

The side things are the expected dice thing, plus two unexpected thing. One is a similar-to-the-dice-thing decklist chapter. The other is a vote and a reminder about audience shop purchases. Do try to get them in by Tuesday. I wrote all I can before the challenge at this point, needing to wait on potential purchases changing things.

Thanks!

29 May

Next batch of chapters just pushed. Only 3 main-line chapters, plus the first batch of challenge 1 votes! Actual challenge will be pushed next week (I really only had one writing session since the audience purchases finalized, so I'm a little behind on writing). For those of you that bought things delivered today, you definitely had an impact.

The first vote batch is a lot to consider, believe it or not. In addition to the Best Girl (or Guy) Poll and the Best Date Poll, we have an audition of new contestants to consider. Enjoy.

5 June

The challenge was pushed out on Tuesday. Now, we begin the immediate aftermath. 5 chapters just pushed out, plus a whooping 16 transformation votes to consider in the side thing. I gave a little more time on the TF polls, because I did not know if I was going to have a last second challenge MVP vote require me to rewrite/reorganize a large chunk of today's push. It didn't happen, but I also didn't want to edit 16 different StrawPoll polls...

In a couple of weeks, I am going to archive these notes and refresh the page.

Enjoy!

What's next?
