Chapter 10 by CaptainPulse CaptainPulse

Where is that?

"You're from that witch's ranch."

Both girls stared at the Naga in confusion, but their host didn't seem to notice. "No wonder you two don't wear clothes. That witch has a lot of humans over there just like that. Though I guess you two wanted to set off on your own, huh?"

Nadia quickly fell into step with the conversation. "Oh, uh... yes, exactly." She reached around to grab Alice's shoulder. "We realized it was time we set out on our own, make lives for ourselves in the world and all that." She eyed Alice as if to say play along.

"Ummm... yup! My sweetie-pie and I wanted to start our lives together, so we just went out on our way."

The Naga's eyes lit up. "Oh, that's so romantic! Sigh I wish I had a partner who I could seek my fortune with like you two." She stared wistfully up at the ceiling for a second, propping her chin on her hands. "And you two make such a lovely couple. Oh, does that mean you're getting married?!"

Nadia jumped in her seat, jostling her cup of tea. That wasn't a question she'd expected to hear. "Oh, well... that's a... I mean, I-" Nadia looked over to Alice for help, but her partner had gone completely quiet. She was twirling her long, black hair in her fingers, blushing profusely and looking askance. She almost looked ashamed, and Nadia's mind raced to figure out why she would feel that way.

The Naga, seeing the nervousness that had swallowed the room, nodded to herself. "I see. A bit early for that question, then? Still in the throes of puppy love? That sounds wonderful. I don't really know much about human weddings myself, if I'm honest, so I don't know how much time and work it takes to have one. Do you need to sell tickets for them, or is it a public event? You'd definitely get your money back easier-" She went on rambling to herself about what she thought weddings were like, and Nadia took the opportunity to inch over to Alice.

She tapped her girlfriend on the shoulder. "We should get out of here while she's distracted."

Alice turned, and Nadia thought she saw tear streaks on her face. "Oh, yeah. Uh... yeah, let's go." The both stood up and started sneaking towards the door they'd come through, their bare feet cold against the stone floor. But as Nadia reached for the door handle (a stick that had been jammed through the side of the wooden slab), the Naga suddenly rose from her chair.

"Oh, of course! I can't forget your housewarming gift!" She turned and rushed back through the curtain to the kitchen, her massive tail wrapping around the nude couple's ankles and dragging them behind her, further away from their potential escape. Both women groaned as they flew past the curtain and deeper into the cavern.

What is their gift?
