Chapter 11

What's next?
Persephone v Thor
{if Court round == 1}
You see a woman walk in, wearing a light pink toga, flowers sprouting as she walks, fading within a minute or two of when she last stepped there. Thor's face now shifts to one of pleasant surprise as he gets up from the chair, resting Mjolnir's pommel across it, head held above the chair, and embraces Persephone. "It is good to see you friend. I am just glad that this trial is between friends and that my little cleric here did not pursue someone distasteful such as my uncle or Apollo." "It is good to see you as well, Thor, although I wish it were under better circumstance. Do come down to Hades' house for dinner sometime soon." At that both take their seats, now opposing each other. A third figure, wearing a cloak such that you can't see her face, walks in. "Macaria, please take your hood down," the judge simply states. The hood falls back, revealing a round face framed with wavy golden hair, eyes brown; the woman attached to it simply pulls up a chair next to Persephone.
"Today's case is on the matter of who this cleric next to me is truly dedicated to, as evidence has been brought forth by the prosecution as to question their loyalties to the defense. The prosecution will be Persephone and the defense will be Thor, perhaps the only deity who is more onerous when his opponent is a friend than when it is a rival." Thor briefly shoots the judge a sharp look, but she continues. "Per agreements dating back millennia between the two here today, this trial will occur over the course of five rounds. The first will be on the matter of civilization, the second on the matter of caution, the third on the matter of mercy, the fourth on the matter of meteorology, and the fifth on the matter of bravery." She looks up from her notes, seeing if either side has a response. "Let the trial begin." You feel yourself subjected to a truth spell, and find yourself unable to resist its effects. Whatever you state, it must be the truth.
Macaria stands, and approaches you. "Miss da Vecci, civilization as a general noun can be used to refer to the organized activities of people within their realm of residence. As a deity of untamed nature, Persephone obviously tolerates civilization at best, whereas Thor sees civilization as what he seeks to protect. This rare note of conflict between the two otherwise friends yields potential for a metric in this trial. Do you favor civilization, or do you favor nature?"
{elseif Court round == 2}
Macaria returns to her seat; the judge moves the trial along. "That concludes round one. Thor, y-" Thor tosses his hammer into the air as he stands up and catches it, walking over to you. "Cecillia, you know that I don't favor caution, and neither should my clerics - while some small diligence is required in perilous situations, caution often just leads to lack of results. Do you think that this hedging in is worth the caution it's caused by?"
{elseif Court round == 3}
Thor leaps back to his seat, returning to his previous resting state. "That concludes round two. Persephone," she simply nods in the direction of the goddess. Macaria rises, and approaches. "Miss da Vecci, do you believe that mercy should be shown towards those who have a change of heart, or should they be allowed to experience the full consequence of their actions?"
{elseif Court round == 4}
Macaria returns once more to her seat, and Thor leaps to his feet as the judge states "that concludes round three. Thor," but he is already in front of the witness stand. The judge sighs and simply buries her face in her hands. "Cecillia," his voice reverberates in the room. "you know me as the Lord of Thunder, and for good reason - it is part of my realm of control. So, let me ask you, how do you feel about storms?"
{elseif Court round == 5}
Thor leaps back to his seat one last time, hammer once more resting in his hands. "That concludes round four." Macaria rises once more, proceeding one final time towards you. "Miss da Vecci, bravery, at least in the eyes of the two deities present, is what is present when you charge into a situation in spite of clear and present danger. Do you believe this to be a good thing?"
{elseif Court round == 6}
"And that concludes the case of Persephone v Thor in the matter of the cleric to my left."{if Prosecution points > 2} "I judge Persephone to have won this case. {if Prosecution points > 4}However, due to the cleric in question's total betrayal of Thor, they are ordered to forfeit all gifts Thor gave her on initial dedication.{elseif Prosecution points > 3}However, her new cleric is ordered to forfeit the spell Thor granted her on initial dedication.{else}However, due to her still partial loyalty to Thor, she may keep the spell Thor initially granted her, although he may reclaim the boons of ability he granted her on initial dedication.{endif}{else} "I judge Thor to have won this case. Persephone is ordered to surrender all current claim to his cleric.{endif} All parties may return at once." And with that, she returns to weaving. Both Thor and Persephone vanish from the court, although you feel that things have changed surrounding you.

Apologies, but these chapters only work well in game mode - too much chapter bloat if I separate it into the five rounds and aftermath.
However, below is a teaser excerpt:
