BACKGROUND: The biracial son of a working-class couple (mom's Mexican, dad's more Irish than Ted Crilly), Enrique (sometimes called "Ricky" or "Mac" by his friends) grew up unafraid of hard labor. Occasionally picked on for his mixed heritage, after one too many fights with classmates by the age of 13, a teacher finally suggested he take up boxing: "If you're gonna fight, you might as well as do it right."

Ricky soon learned that he had a natural talent for the sweet science, and less than three years later, he won his first local tournament (the nickname "Lucky" came from a trainer, since he seemed to always know what direction the punches were coming from). After spending several years in the ring, Lucky decided to temporarily retire from the game for various reasons (primarily to focus on his family, and to start taking a few classes). Leaving the boxing world with a 27-14 record, Mac and his wife, Jesse, are currently managing a gym, with focus on self-defense classes.

Roughly four months ago, an MLW rep approached Lucky with an offer to participate in the League for a year, primarily in exhibition matches. In addition to being in the arena, Lucky would also work part-time as a trainer with some of the younger rookie participants.

Lucky's style is very much influenced by his time as a boxer, with occasional grappling techniques. A journalist once described his style "Nearly all offense, with very little defense." For Mr. McManus, he's in the game for the fighting, not the fucking. He's happily married, and incredibly devoted to Jesse and their five-year-old son, Adam. While he mainly goes up against male opponents, he's only willing to fight females that are actual fighters, not wannabe strippers. As he once put it, "I want opponents who actually want to fight, not audition for the Jiggly Room."

NOTABLE MOVES

Bulldozer: A bull charge that knocks them to the ground, followed by a quick sequence of punches.

Finnegan Wakes Again: A series of quick punches that leave his opponent temporarily disoriented, before he tackles them to the ground.

Mexican Standoff: In a nearly borderline psychic ability, Lucky manages to block or dodge several of his opponent's moves, before landing a punch like a wrecking ball that sends them crashing.

Skyrocket: A powerful uppercut.
