Chapter 10

What's next?
First date with Giovanni, pt. 2
{if tempAlpha = true}"Fair enough, a woman of mystery - I can tell you have your secrets." The two of you continue making small talk, not really delving into anything deep for the next couple of hours.{elseif tempBeta = true}"Ah, can't say I blame you, even if my feelings are slightly different." As the two of you talk back and forth, true to his word, he keeps the focus largely on you. Conversation continues, and you slowly start opening up about your time growing up and how much of a shock Cyllian's culture is to you. He returns some stuff about his own earlier life to you, sharing his own past culture shock - his first time in the Empire came as much the surprise to him. You continue to share bits and pieces of your past, beginning to slowly get closer to Giovanni.{elseif tempGamma = true}{if Cleric = true}He looks sadly at you, "I wish I could help, I truly do. I know some others in the group have some plans but I honestly don't see them panning out. At the very least, know I'm willing to listen to you." As he says this, you find yourself spilling all of your strife and struggle; you share all the pain and anguish that you went through as a woman in the most misogynistic city in the world. He takes all of it very seriously, listening through the entirety, rubbing your back in comfort at parts. By the end of it, you just break down crying on his shoulder. It feels cathartic to be able to just let it all out every once in a while. After you calm down, you take a bite of some bread and resume talking to him, the **** vulnerability you displayed making you feel as if you can talk about just about anything. Maybe if you join the group you could see about talking to some of the others in the group; he did mention that others have plans.{endif}{else}By not playing in game mode, you're missing out on all the content that was up here.{endif}
As the two of you continue talking, eventually the topic does turn to faith. The two of you slowly talk about the various acts of the gods, and how you can't really see direct evidence of them; his theory is that they have agreements with each other not to directly act outside of what they grant their clerics and champions lest they accidentally issue large-scale destruction. Basically, deities hostile to each other are in a mutually assured destruction scenario in terms of actions in the material planes. As the two of you talk, the conversation starts turning deeper again, to your personal commitments to deities. He makes no secret of the fact that he's dedicated to Athena, first and foremost, however he's not exactly opposed to other deities in general. "What about you? What deity are you dedicated to?"
