World War Futa

Introduction

The purpose of this work is to serve as an oral history, to collect the various stories and threads of what happened, and explain for the first time why things turned out as they did. This was a large undertaking, one I only agreed to because of the protection offered by my press pass and immunity.

I am approaching this as if to inform future generations, and will try to include notes for context as needed. While I was not able to interview all of the key players, a surprising number agreed to listen to me, and tell me their stories. There are of course innumerable stories from this time, far too many for me to collect, as each of us was impacted by this war in our own way. I could not cover every angle, but I tried to be comprehensive, and paint a broad portrait.

I realize the title is controversial, as there are still debates as to what we should actually call this happening. "The Event" was popular for a while, but is far too vague and open ended. "The Uprising" as well. The name I chose is less popular among historians, but has caught on in the popular vernacular, which is why I chose it. I hope these accounts are interesting, and leave you enlightened.
