Upside Down Survival

After a failed experiment close to your home, you feel cold and everything is dark. You feel sick, and you try to focus and understand what happened.
You are not in your room anymore...
The air is thick, filled with particles that float like embers suspended in the air, a layer of ash mixed with roots coats the ground.
The trees are twisted and blackened, and the skies are red, covered with ash clouds or miasma.

You observe a city close to your location, the buildings are covered by darkness and mists.

You touch something warm in your pocket, your cellphone screen shows an old map and it's locked... you suddenly remember something about a portal and a creepy book that arrived via mail this morning but your mind is clouded with confusion.

The map signals 4 different locations with the symbols of portals to return to your home...

As a male, you can be transformed into a female (partially or fully) in some events
