Universal Rules

NOTE TO THE READER: This is my version of the rulebook trope that has been seen so many times here on CHYOA.

I will be posting my own stories now and then, but you are welcome to add your own chapters. I ask that you make sure that ANY characters involved in sexual acts are 18+.

Waking up on a hot summer Saturday morning, the main character rolls over and finds a strange book that they have never seen sitting on their nightstand beside their phone.

It looks like an old-fashioned diary, complete with a fancy pen attached by a chain that appears to be several inches long. It has a hard black cover made of a smooth wood. “<Main Character’s Name’s> Universal Rules” is printed in ornate letters on the cover.

When the main character investigates, they will find the first page says, “Rules For Using This Book:

1. This book will alter reality however you desire, but it will leave you for another dimension if you do not use it more than once a year.

2. You can create ‘save spots’ in the book that you may return to if you so desire.

3. The book cannot be seen by anyone but you.

4. The book cannot be taken from you.

5. The book cannot be given away.

6. The book can change reality in any way that you desire, EXCEPT it cannot raise the dead.

7. The book will harshly punish and leave you if you molest children.

8. The book will harshly punish and leave you if you intentionally harm innocent children.

9. Trying to find out anything about the book’s creator will not end well for you.

10. You were chosen because of your desires, so have fun, you pervert.”
