Unexpected Results

You wake to the rhythmic beeps of a heart-rate monitor. Your whole world feels as though it is spinning at a million miles an hour as you pull yourself into consciousness.

"He's waking up, doctor." A female voice breaks through your daze. Your vision clears up and you blink the bright lights away. A nurse is sitting at the foot of your bed, watching you worryingly. Suddenly, you feel a stabbing pain in your temples, and you wince in pain.

A doctor enters your room; you do not recognize him, but he seems to know you well.

"Ah, Mr. Smith, you're awake. As you can hopefully tell, your surgery was a success." He smiles. "Allow me to fill you in on the details." He picks up the clipboard from the foot of your bed. The nurse leaves.

"You had a tumor removed from your brain, Mr. Smith..." He explains the whole back story for the tumor, and your memories return. The doctor leaves to continue his rounds.

You drift back into sleep.
