Truth or Dare

Truth or Dare

A game of wills and luck

Chapter 1 by lalolotor lalolotor

It had finally arrived. The weekend that Katherine's parents were leaving town to visit her Aunt. Her parents had reiterated all of the house rules before they left for their time away -- homework was to be done before going to a friends house, no friends were to come over while they were gone, certainly no parties were to be had, and most importantly: no boys. Katherine had of course agreed to all of these terms before waving her parents off for the weekend.

Even so, no sooner had her parents' car rounded the corner, she had texted Trish and Lexi letting them know that the house was clear for their long-awaited no rules sleepover. The arrangements had been made several days in advance to convince both of their parents that they were staying at the other's house for the night. Since all three of them had been friends since a very young age, neither set of parents even thought to question the likelihood of their story. Within half an hour, all three of the girls had assembled in the living room of Katherine's house.

Katherine was, among the three, easily the most girly. She had a large sum of stuffed animals strewn about her pink-hued room, with framed pictures of her latest celebrity crushes hanging from the walls. She had hardly matured in spirit since the age of 12, but her body most certainly had. Not only had her breasts filled out a round C cup until they nearly spilled out, but her hips had widened slightly, giving her a slender hourglass shape that almost all of the other girls at school were envious of. Katherine was, of course, almost completely unaware of how attractive she was, and also of the effect she could have on the hormone-driven boys at school when she acted as girly and cutesy as came natural to her. Every time her shoulder-length auburn curls bobbed up and down upon her head from her giggling, a good number of boys took notice.

Trish, on the other hand, had almost the exact opposite luck. She had a rather thin, pale build, with only enough endowment to blur the lines between an A and a B cup. Instead, she had matured quite quickly and became a (mostly) responsible young woman. She was, however, easily bored. This led Trish to take up the hobby of playing videogames and reading comics -- pastimes that were not common among her gender. She had, however, managed to introduce the hobby of gaming to Katherine and Lexi, just as they had kept her at least somewhat young in mind. Otherwise, her emo-esque style (including arrow-straight black hair that hung down to the middle of her back) would be her only defining feature.

The third girl, Lexi, was likely the most well-rounded among them, albeit the shortest. She had a well-proportioned chest that seemed to be made perfectly to fit a B cup. She had a shock of red hair that fell in spirals down to just below her jaw, framing her freckled face perfectly. Her main hobby was baking, and everyone she knew was eternally grateful every time she wanted to try a new recipe -- whether it be cookies or cake, Lexi was always looking for someone to try her newest goodies.

They had all come prepared and despite the time being only shortly after 7:30, they were all already wearing their pajamas. Katherine had on a pink tank top and matching boyshorts, Trish had on a pair of dark flannel bottoms and a baggy black tee with the symbol of a metal band emblazoned on the front, and Lexi had on a fluffy robe wrapped snugly against her slight frame. They spent a good amount of time gossiping before they arrived on the topic of boys.

"You know who's really cute?" Lexi rhetorically asked the other two. "The guy who just joined our Math class -- John!" The other two squealed their hearts out at this, and giggling ensued. "He's got a really handsome face... His jaw is all square and masculine, and his eyes are the most wonderful shade of green!"

As the giggling died down, Katherine chimed in. "He just moved here; he's only two houses down."

This was met with an amazed "No way! Are you serious?" from Lexi and more giggling from Trish.

"Yeah," Katherine responded with a sly smile "I even have his number!" she said playfully, placing emphasis on each syllable. Further giggles ensued, followed by Katherine saying "You should call him!" Trish squealed at this concept.

"I can't call him! That would be, like, crazy!" Lexi responded.

"Aww, are you too chicken?" Katherine mocked.

Lexi huffed a bit at this comment and said "I am not! If you're going to be like that, then I'll call him -- but you have to take a dare from me!"

Trish oooooh'ed at this, which was met with rolled eyes from Lexi. Katherine perked up, though, and said "We could turn it into a game of truth or dare!"

"You're on!" responded Lexi without a word of input from Trish. "But your first round has to be a dare that I give you. What's his number?"

The phone lay between all three as it rang on speakerphone. It seemed to ring for quite a while, and they were almost expecting a voicemail to kick in when he finally answered.

"Hey," is all John said as he picked up. A squealing of girls could be heard through his earpiece, followed by one of them shushing the others.

"Hey, it's Lexi from precalc," The voice responded.

He laughed once before responding with, "How did you get my number?"

Giggling could be heard along with, "Katherine gave it to me."

"I'm guessing she's there with you."

Stronger giggling. "Yeah, she is, and she has something to ask you, too."

Katherine gave Lexi a questioning look before Lexi leaned over and whispered "I dare you to invite him over."

John simply heard a screech of "What!? No, I can't!" followed by some rambunctious arguing finishing with "Fine! Fine! I'll do it."

After a bit of a pause, John said "The suspense is killing me," which was met with giggles.

A sigh came through the phone, followed by the words "We're playing a game of Truth or Dare, and we were wondering if you wanted to join us," through clenched teeth.

John laughed and said "Well, funnily enough, Andrew is here tutoring me, but we're just about done."

Without thinking Lexi smiled at Trish and quickly said "Bring him along!" She knew that Trish had a long-standing crush on Andrew, who was also in their pre-calculus class. Maybe some good would finally come of .

John laughed again as the giggling died down from Trish and was replaced by gut-busting laughter from Katherine. After making sure they were at Katherine's house, he asked Andrew about the proposition, and returned to the phone with "Yeah, we're in. We'll be over in a few." Squeals from Katherine and Lexi again filled the room. Trish was still too shocked at Lexi to squeal. She was instead slapping at the traitorous friend with her pillow.

When the doorbell rang a few minutes later, the Katherine and Lexi rushed to answer the door, with Trish following at a walking pace. There, in the doorway, stood both of the boys.

Once all inside, a little bit of small talk was had before John asked "So, what are the rules of the game? I know the whole truth or dare part, but what if someone chickens out?"

"It should be that they have to take both an additional truth and an additional dare!" proposed Lexi.

Andrew countered with, "What about everyone pitches in a dare, and the person who chickened out has to pick one."

John offered the option that they should pick two of the dares instead, but after a little bit of argument, they finally settled on using Andrew's rule after he said that everyone should just save their most wicked dares for when someone refuses a truth or dare.

John then asked, "So, whose turn is it?"

Katherine and Lexi both looked at Trish, to which she responded with, "Yeah, yeah. Just get it over with."

Lexi then said, "Go ahead, John. Ask her!"

"Me?" he asked, taken aback slightly. "Alright. Truth or Dare?"

Truth or Dare?
