The War of Shields

The world of Edar is torn between three kingdoms, each one powered by steam, blood and fanaticism. The wars of this world are fought by Golems, which are controlled via the mental commands of special individuals, born with the Gift.

These Gifted are prized beyond gold or hundreds of common folk.

In the Republic of Vinei, Gifted are bought and traded. They are kept in gilded cages, fed the finest wines, and are never let out for fear a rival royal house would steal them away.

In the Kingdom of Charl, Gifted rule with an iron fist, using their Golems to crush, stomp and generally oppress their rebellious serfts.

In the Empire of Jade, Gifted are raised from youth to follow a strict code of honor and conduct, keeping them controlled. It is a great honor to be born a Gifted...and it is one of the few ways to rise from your normal station.
